Daystar Unveils Next-Phase Vision to Commemorate 30th Anniversary

The Daystar Christian Centre has concluded its 30th anniversary celebration with a global thanksgiving experience that highlighted its core legacy; lives transformed through consistent teaching, empowerment, and practical Christian leadership across three decades.

The two-day event, themed ‘A Mosaic of Changed Lives’, held on November 15 and 16, 2025, brought together thousands of worshippers onsite and millions online. 

The celebration featured a special impartation session by Bishop David Oyedepo, worship led by Minister Dunsin Oyekan, and participation from top ministry leaders, government officials, and business executives.

Speaking during the anniversary, Senior Pastor Sam Adeyemi reaffirmed that the ministry’s success is best measured not by structures, but by the lives changed through its values-driven approach to ministry.

“The truest evidence of the church’s calling is seen in thousands of changed lives; ordinary people becoming role models in society,” he said. “God did not call us to build a large church. He called us to build strong people who reflect His character, competence, and capacity.”

The celebration featured remarkable testimonies, including that of Pastor Seyi Oladimeji, Daystar’s pioneer administrator who is today a global consultant and author.

He recounted how the church laid the foundation for his leadership development and capacity-building journey.

Another emotional moment came from Dr. (Mrs.) Adelanwa, who shared how God blessed her with children after years of waiting, alongside significant career breakthroughs; a testimony she attributed to the atmosphere of faith and sound teaching at Daystar.

Their stories mirrored those of countless others; entrepreneurs, students, professionals, and families; who traced their life transformations to Daystar initiatives such as the Daystar Leadership Academy, Daystar Skill Acquisition Programme, Daystar Business Academy, and community outreach efforts including the Back-to-School programme, which has supported thousands of children across Lagos.

Deputy Senior Pastor, Nike Adeyemi, reiterated the ministry’s long-standing commitment to compassion and nation-building. She highlighted Daystar’s educational outreach programmes that continue to provide school support for thousands of children in Lagos, emphasizing that, “Empowerment remains Daystar’s core identity; lifting families and strengthening communities for national development.”

Across the anniversary weekend, testimonies poured in from attendees worldwide, each reflecting the impact of the church’s unwavering focus on faith, leadership, and empowerment.

The celebration concluded with a multi-centre thanksgiving service as Daystar unveiled its next-phase vision centred on digital discipleship, leadership incubation, and expanding its global community impact.

    The House of Representatives has initiated a probe into claims that scholarship stipends meant for students studying both within Nigeria and overseas have not been paid, a situation said to have placed many of them under severe hardship and disrupted their academic progress.

    This was revealed as the House Committee on Students Loans, Scholarships, and Higher Education Financing, chaired by Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, began its investigative hearing yesterday. 

    During the hearing, parents of the affected students presented their concerns to the committee, expressing deep anxiety about the consequences the delayed payments have had on their families and on their children’s welfare.

    The parents, speaking under the umbrella of the Forum of Parents and Guardians of FGN Bilateral Education Agreement Scholarship Recipients, Abuja, Nigeria, alleged that the federal government has violated the terms of the scholarship awards.

    They stated that the programme had previously run smoothly across various host countries and that numerous former Nigerian beneficiaries had gained significantly from it and were now contributing meaningfully to national development.

    They noted that although host nations had largely adhered to the provisions of the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA), Nigeria had failed to consistently fulfill its obligations to pay stipends as required.

    They further explained that within the past three years, the situation had deteriorated, adversely affecting the scholars. 

    They urged the committee to examine the specific contractual commitments outlined in the award letters.

    The parents recalled that as of 2018, the award letter provided beneficiaries with $500 per month and $600 annually for feeding, local transportation, and books/equipment; an annual warm clothing stipend of $250; and $200 for health insurance.

    The package also included a $60,000 take-off grant prior to departure, along with a one-way ticket to the host country and a return ticket at the end of the study period to be obtained from the Nigerian mission.

    They added that a similar letter issued to another scholar in September 2022 listed the same benefits: a monthly supplementation allowance of $500 and $6,000 annually for feeding, transportation, and equipment/books; $250 for warm clothing; $200 for health insurance per year; a $60,000 take-off grant; and one-way and return flight provisions to be collected from the Nigerian Mission abroad.

    The group also pointed out that in the last three years the scholarship scheme has been plagued by problems, particularly due to fluctuations between the naira and the dollar, leading to outstanding stipend balances from 2023 to 2024.

    They stressed that no stipends at all have been paid for the 2025 fiscal year so far, leaving the scholars unable to cover basic living expenses and exposing them to health, safety, and academic risks.

    They added that in addition to the unpaid 2025 stipends, scholars are still owed arrears from the shortfalls recorded in 2023 and 2024, resulting in a significant accumulation of debts and prolonged financial strain.

    Declaring the hearing open, Speaker of the House, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, represented by Rep. David Agada, expressed disappointment over the reported delays in payments, warning that such failures could impede the students’ progress.

    He noted that any disruption in stipend disbursement negatively impacts students’ education and motivation.

    Speaker Abbas reaffirmed that the 10th Assembly intends to improve administrative processes governing scholarship payments and stated that the outcome of the probe will help shape future administration of the scholarship scheme.

    In his remarks, Committee Chairman Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, said that, if verified, the allegations point to serious administrative lapses and a breach of national responsibility.

    He described the situation as a direct threat to the academic, mental, and physical well-being of Nigerian students studying abroad.

    He added that any country sending students overseas has a duty to support, supervise, and uphold their dignity as a long-term investment in its future.

    Hon. Ehindero condemned reports of Nigerian scholars stranded abroad and stressed that the Committee will, as part of its mandate, identify the reasons behind the delays and administrative breakdowns.

    He emphasised that the committee will also review the status of released scholarship funds and assess whether due process, fairness, and accountability were followed.

    He reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to ensuring such administrative failures do not happen again.

    Africa’s leading experts have gathered for the sixth Annual Data Security Conference, a hybrid event that  kicked  off on November 26, 2025, as Taxtech, a leading Nigerian business solutions provider, celebrates uts 10th anniversary.

    The conference with the theme: ‘Artificial Intelligence in Africa: Balancing Innovation, Ethics, and Security’, aims to bring together top government officials, industry leaders, and academics to discuss the latest trends and challenges in data security and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

    As part of the celebrations, Taxtech is launching the 6th Africa Data Security Conclave (ADSC), a flagship event that has become a hallmark of data security and AI discourse in Africa.

    Scheduled for November 26 and 27, 2025, the conclave promises to be a thought-provoking platform for experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to share insights and shape the future of data security and AI in Africa.

     The Chief Executive Officer of Taxtech, Bidemi Olumide, said: “We’ve been building quietly. Now is the time to let the world know us, like us, and project us appropriately.” “Our story is simple: we automate processes and secure data.”

     Olumide highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation and leadership in process automation, data protection, and digital transformation over the past decade.

     Olugbenga Sile, the executive director and partner, Management Support Services at Taxtech, emphasised the importance of the conclave, stating that: “The ADSC is a conversation everyone needs to join. You don’t need to be a digital security expert. AI is now part of everything we do.”

    The Chief Technology Officer and Partner, Process Automation Services, Joshua Oladunjoye, explained that: “TRev is the platform that organises all the tax administration, like the assessment generation, the provision of receiptss, and the enforcement, while the collection side of things is handled by T-Pay government.”

     The ADSC will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, and workshops on topics related to artificial intelligence, data security, and innovation. With its focus on these areas, the conference is expected to attract a diverse range of participants from across Africa and beyond.      Oyeyemi Oke, the executive director, Taxtech, discussed the impact of the new tax law on individual taxes, stating that: “The guys who are earning the minimum wage will actually not pay any taxes. Now, the low-income earners will be the people from, let’s say, N70,000, that is the minimum, up to N2.1 million. So, if you’re earning between N70,000 to 2.1 million, you wouldn’t pay higher taxes.”

     As Taxtech celebrates its 10th anniversary, the company is reflecting on its achievements and looking forward to the future. The Africa Data Security Conclave is a key part of the celebrations, marking a decade of innovation and leadership in process automation, data protection, and digital transformation.
