Concerned Farmers Association questions MoFA Chief Director over exclusion in Nkoko Nketekete launch

The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana has expressed disappointment over what it describes as the “deliberate sidelining” of key agricultural stakeholders, including the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF), in the upcoming launch of the Nkoko Nketekete programme by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA).

In a statement signed by its president, Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu II, the Association said it was “deeply shocked” by the conduct of the Chief Director of MoFA, accusing him of disregarding constitutional provisions that guarantee GNAFF’s participation in national agricultural programmes and policy processes.

“We are appalled that the Chief Director, who is aware of the constitutional provisions and structures of MoFA, has deliberately chosen to ignore GNAFF and other key stakeholders in the launch of this programme,” the statement read.

“This is a clear breach of the Constitution of Ghana, which guarantees GNAFF’s participation in national programmes and policies related to agriculture.”

The Association has therefore demanded an explanation from the Chief Director regarding the exclusion of recognised farmer groups from the Nkoko Nketekete initiative.

It also called on relevant authorities to intervene and ensure that institutional structures within the Ministry are respected.

Beyond the immediate concerns, the group is also urging Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to investigate what it describes as questionable financial dealings within the Ministry—particularly those relating to programmes initiated under previous administrations.

“The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana will not stand idly by while the rights of farmers are trampled upon. We will continue to advocate for transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in the agricultural sector,” the statement concluded.
