Chelsea Plot Isak Summer Signing From Newcastle

Chelsea have reportedly made an enquiry about the possibility of signing Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak during the summer transfer window.

According to Daily Mail, the Blues and the Magpies have had preliminary discussions regarding the prospect of signing the star forward.

Chelsea are apparently willing to surpass their previous transfer record, which they set last summer when they paid £115 million (€136 million) to recruit Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Isak has made a name for himself as one of the most prolific goal scorers in English football since joining the Premier League in 2022.

The Sweden international showcased his talent last season by scoring 25 goals in all competitions, including 21 in the league, following an injury-plagued debut season at St. James’ Park.

Chelsea are believed to be running out of patience with Nicolas Jackson, who signed for the Premier League giants in the 2023/24 season. A season blighted by wastefulness and missed chances has made it clear why Todd Boehly is looking for a suitable alternative in front of goal.

The Blues are eager to improve ahead of the 2024/25 season following a dismal campaign in which they finished 6th in the Premier League standings, thereby missing Champions League football in back-to-back seasons.

In an attempt to strengthen their squad before the next campaign, Chelsea have set their sights on a number of talented attackers throughout Europe. They have reportedly begun negotiations to sign Marc Guiu and Nico Williams from Barcelona and Athletic Club, respectively, after losing out on Michael Olise to Bayern Munich.

The six-time English top-flight champions will reconvene under new manager Enzo Maresca next month before departing for a preseason course in the United States.

Chelsea have friendly matches scheduled against Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Wrexham.
