Premier League club Chelsea has confirmed that the son of Michael Emenalo, Landon Emenalo, has pledged his future to the team by signing a new long-term contract.

The club confirmed this in a statement released on its official website.

Emenalo is eligible to play for the United States, Nigeria, or England at the senior level.

Michael Emenalo, Landon’s father, is Nigeria’s former international left-back, who made a significant impact for the Super Eagles during their inaugural World Cup appearance.

The new contract will ensure that Landon Emenalo remains with the Blues until at least the conclusion of the 2030–2031 season.

A product of the Chelsea academy, Landon joined the club at the U8 level, later spent time at Monaco, and returned to Chelsea at the U13 level.

At 18 years old, he was part of Chelsea’s intake of scholars for the 2024–2025 season and signed his first professional contract in January 2025.

This season, Emenalo has participated in various competitions for Chelsea, including the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2, Premier League International Cup, FA Youth Cup, UEFA Youth League, and EFL Trophy.

Although he has not yet made his senior debut, the left-back has received three call-ups for official matches, including games against Pafos (Champions League), Legia Warsaw (Conference League), and Liverpool (Premier League).

The Arizona native has represented youth teams for both England and the United States.

Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, legend Rabiu Ali has reiterated his desire to continue playing for Kano Pillars beyond this season.

The 45-year-old midfielder is currently in his 18th season with Kano Pillars.

Ali has been one of the standout performers for the Sai Masu Gida in the current campaign.

He has netted seven goals in 29 appearances for Kano Pillars this season.

Ali expressed his desire to win more trophies with the four-time NPFL champions.

“I’m fit, I still have a lot to offer in the league,” Ali was quoted by Nigerian Player Gallery.

“When the time comes, I will retire, but for now I am still active and want to win many trophies with my club.”

DAILY POST recalls that Ali has won the NPFL title four times with Kano Pillars.

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has received a triple injury boost as they prepare to play Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie.

The trio of William Saliba, Leandro Trossard and Riccardo Calafiori were spotted in training on Tuesday morning.

Saliba has been unavailable for the Gunners’ last two fixtures against Brighton and Mansfield Town.

The French defender sustained an ankle injury during their 2-1 win over Chelsea.

The duo of Calafiori and Trossard limped off during the 2-1 victory at Mansfield in the FA Cup fifth round.

However, captain Martin Odegaard and defender Ben White, were not spotted with the squad.

Getafe president Ángel Torres has said the club will be glad to welcome back Christantus Uche from Crystal Palace.

Uche joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan last summer.

The attacking midfielder has, however, struggled for regular playing time at Selhurst Park, and Palace are unlikely to make the move permanent.

Torres hinted that there are other clubs interested in the Nigerian, but they would be glad to keep him.

“He has offers from other countries outside the Premier League, and he’ll decide. That, or he can come back; he has three years left on his contract. We’d be delighted if he returned if he can’t be sold,” Torres said.

The 22-year-old has made 14 league appearances for Palace, all as a substitute.

Ademola Lookman will be looking to continue his impressive run of form for Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League against Tottenham Hotspur, DAILY POST reports.

The Round of 16 first leg fixture is slated for the Metropolitano Stadium on Tuesday night.

Lookman, who joined Diego Simeone’s side during the January transfer window made a big impact in the playoff tie with Club Brugge.

The tricky winger was on target in the 3-3 draw in the first leg.

The 28-year-old then registered an assist in the reverse fixture at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Lookman has registered four goals and three assists in 10 appearances across all competitions since arriving Spain.

Atletico Madrid head into the game in buoyant mood having won four of their last five matches.

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is currently at the top of the Player of the Match leaderboard in this season’s UEFA Champions League, DAILY POST reports.

Osimhen has won four Man of the Match awards in the competition , the most by any player.

The Nigerian picked up the award for the fourth time in Galatasaray’s last game against Serie A giants Juventus in Turin last month.

The powerful striker has netted seven times in eight outings in the Champions League this term.

Galatasaray will entertain Liverpool in the first leg of their Round of 16 encounter at the RAMs Park on Tuesday night.

Kylian Mbappé, Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, Charles de Ketelaere, Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Trincao have all won the award thrice in the current campaign.

UCL: Osimhen tops Player of the Match standings

Paul Onuachu scored twice as Trabzonspor beat 10-man Kayserispor 1-0 away on Monday night.

Onuachu has now scored in ninth consecutive games for Trabzonspor.

The hosts were reduced to 10-men after Dorukhan Toköz was sent off in the eighth minute.

Onuachu gave Trabzonspor the lead from a header two minutes into added time.

The Nigeria international doubled the visitors’ advantage from the penalty spot five minutes later.

The tall striker now has 20 goals, and two assists in 21 league appearances for the Black Sea Storm this season.

He is also currently the leading scorer in the Turkish Super Lig.

Nigeria’s D’Tigress on Monday, arrived Villeurbanne, Lyon for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament, DAILY POST reports.

The tournament is scheduled to run from March 11 to 17.

Head coach, Rena Wakama, his assistants and the 12 selected players are all gearing up for the competition.

The players have already started preparations for the tournament following their arrival in Lyon.

The African champions will face France, Germany, Colombia, South Korea, and the Philippines during the competition.

Promise Amukamara, Ezinne Kalu, Amy Okonkwo, and Sarah Ogoke are expected to play key their roles for the D’Tigress in Lyon.

Former England right-back, Micah Richards, has said Arsenal are “favourites” to win the Champions League trophy this season.

The Gunners are one out of six Premier League teams that qualified for the last 16 of the competition.

The others are Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal, who topped the group phase, have been drawn against Bayer Leverkusen.

Although they have not won the trophy in their history, Richards believes that playing style will favour them.

“They’re top of the Premier League and I think Arsenal are the favourites for the Champions League because I think it will suit them more than the domestic games,” Richards said on The Rest Is Football podcast.

“In the Champions League the games might get a little bit more stretched whereas in the Premier League everyone is going to that low block against them.”
