Super Falcons forward Omorinsola Babajide has expressed disappointment following the postponement of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, DAILY POST reports.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, announced on Thursday that the competition, which was scheduled to start in Morocco on March 17, has been postponed to July 2026.

CAF said the decision was taken as a result of certain unforeseen circumstances.

The majority of the 16 qualified teams had already started preparations for the competition and engaged in friendlies during the recent international window.

Babajide, who plays for Italian club AS Roma, labelled the postponement “embarrassing.”

“It’s actually embarrassing at this point,” the former Liverpool star wrote on X.

Adamawa United forward, David Clarkson, is adamant that his team will secure maximum points against Bichi First FC in Numan.

The Yola-based club will lock horns with Bichi First FC in a Matchday 11 fixture at the Makwada Stadium, Numan, on Saturday.

Clarkson also expressed the team’s desire to play in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) next season.

“We will do everything possible to get the three points from Bichi First FC,” Clarkson told Nigerian Player Gallery.

The experienced tactician guided the team to three wins and one defeat in the month.

Ozebagbe’s tactical brilliance has aided Ikorodu City’s belief in securing a continental ticket.

The Oga Boys recorded two wins, one draw and one defeat from four matches.

Ikorodu City occupy third position on the league table with 45 points.

Mohammed led Katsina United to an unbeaten run during the month.

They registered two wins and two draws.

The winner of the award will be decided by a panel of Nigerian football experts and will be announced next week.

NPFL: Nominees for Manager of the Month unveiled

The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations has been postponed by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, DAILY POST reports.

CAF announced the postponement of the competition on its official website on Thursday.

The competition was initially scheduled to hold in Morocco from 17 March to 3 April, 2026.

It has now been rescheduled to hold from 25 July to 16 August.

CAF said it took the decision to ensure the success of the competition, in the light of certain unforseen circumstances.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria won the last edition of the competition also hosted by Morocco.

Celtic manager, Martin O’Neill has explained why Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho is struggling this year at the club.

Iheanacho has struggled for regular playing game time since the start of the year.

The Enugu State government have charged Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, side Rangers to sustain their hunger for success.

The state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Ike Lloyd Ekweremadu gave the charge during a visit to the team.

Ekweremadu expressed satisfaction with the dedication and focus of the players in training.

Rangers are on a five- game unbeaten run in the NPFL.

“I was particularly impressed to see the players fully back to training showing true professionalism, focus, and hunger for sustained success,” Ekweremadu stated during his visit.

“It was a pleasure engaging with the team, celebrating their achievements, and encouraging continued dedication, unity, and excellence on and off the pitch.”

Rangers will do battle with defending champions Remo Stars in their next game in Enugu.

Nigerian youngster Sokoato Samuel Aibe has joined Czech First Division club SK Sigma Olomouc, DAILY POST reports.

Sokoato linked up with SK Sigma Olomouc from Abuja-based, Mahanaim Football Club.

He was scouted by Mahanaim Football Club at a local tournament in Kaduna.

The 18-year-old joins Mahanaim FC graduate, Ahmad Ghali at SK Sigma Olomouc.

The details of the transfer was not disclosed by the two clubs.

Sokoato’s intelligence, and technical abilities are some of the attributes that attracted him to Sigma Olomuc.

Morocco is scheduled to host the tournament later this month.

There are speculations that the WAFCON 2026 finals will be postponed.

CAF Communications Director, Luxolo September, posted on X today that the continent’s soccer governing body is giving the WAFCON situation “urgent and high-level attention.”

Morocco also hosted the delayed 2024 edition of the competition.

This edition of the tournament will run from March 17 and end on April 3, 2026.

The semifinalists will advance to next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

CAF set to make pronouncement on WAFCON 2026

Nigeria’s D’Tigress have discovered their opponents in the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournament.

The draw for the competition took place on Wednesday.

D’Tigress, who are the reigning African champions will face Colombia, the Philippines, Germany, South Korea and France in the qualifying series.

The tournament will hold in Villeurbanne, Lyon, France.
