The Borno State Police Command has released its 2025 performance report, outlining major arrests, prosecutions and recoveries across the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the police said officers arrested 2,610 people for various crimes during the year. Of these cases, 1,023 were fully investigated and prosecuted, leading to convictions in court.
The police said the results were achieved through regular patrols, intelligence-led operations, swift emergency responses and strong cooperation with other security agencies. Operations covered all 27 local government areas of Borno State.
During the year, officers recovered eight firearms, 54 rounds of ammunition and 41 dangerous weapons, including cutlasses and knives.
They also safely recovered and neutralised nine unexploded bombs and improvised explosive devices as part of counter-terrorism efforts.
The command rescued 18 kidnapped persons and recovered 27 stolen vehicles and 187 mobile phones. The items are currently being verified before being returned to their rightful owners.
In addition, the police seized hard drugs and other illegal substances valued at over N5.7m, dealing a blow to drug trafficking networks in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, said the achievements were built on efforts already in place before he assumed office in June 2025.
He noted that the progress reflected teamwork, continuity and professionalism, despite persistent security challenges in Borno.
He added that the command was guided by the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, which emphasises professionalism, accountability, respect for human rights and community-based policing.
Looking ahead to 2026, Abdulmajid said intelligence-led policing would remain a top priority.
He also pledged stronger cooperation with other security agencies, increased patrols in both urban and rural areas, and enhanced training for officers.
He called on residents to support the police by providing useful information and obeying the law, stressing that security is a shared responsibility.
