The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the death of four persons in an attack that occurred in Otobi-Akpa, Otobi Ward, Otukpo Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, who confirmed the attack newsmen on Tuesday, said investigation is in progress, and efforts are being made to arrest the perpetrators to face justice.
She said, “We can confirm that an incident occurred earlier today at Otobi-Akpa. Tragically, four individuals have lost their lives.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones affected by this incident.
“Investigation is in progress, and efforts are being made to arrest the perpetrators to face justice.”
The confirmation comes after reports that gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen, stormed the community around 12:00 a.m., firing sporadically and forcing residents to flee.
Eyewitnesses said the attack lasted several hours, leaving four dead, including Hon. Ochi Igbabe and Pastor Mrs. Enenu Ojiji, while others remain unaccounted for.
