Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to tackling the growing security concerns across the state, particularly in the Zone C axis.

This follows strategic engagement with traditional rulers and community stakeholders in Otukpo.

During the visit, Governor Alia also paid a condolence visit to the family of a young man who was recently murdered in his home by yet-to-be-identified assailants.

The governor stated that his administration was fully committed to implementing strategic solutions aimed at safeguarding lives and property.

“I want to assure everyone in Benue State that we are fully committed to fixing security challenges and making sure that our communities are safe and peaceful,” he said.

Describing the meeting with the traditional rulers as the beginning of a broader and more concrete security dialogue, Alia stressed the importance of unity and collaboration in restoring peace across affected communities.

“The dialogue we initiated with traditional leaders and stakeholders is just the beginning of concrete, strategic solutions aimed at safeguarding our homes and families,” he added.

Governor Alia called on all residents of Benue to remain united and proactive in the face of growing threats, reaffirming that safety and well-being will remain his administration’s top priority.

“Let us stand united as we take bold steps toward building a safer and stronger Benue for us and generations to come,” he added.

However, barely 24 after leaving Otukpo, a bus belonging to Benue Links was hijacked around Ikobi by gunmen and all passengers kidnapped. Two persons were killed during the attack.

Similarly, just last night, a security guard was killed at Otobi Dam by suspected herdsmen.

The latest attack has further fueled concerns over rising insecurity in the region, with the member representing Otukpo/Akpa at the Benue State House of Assembly, Angbo Kennedy calling on his constituents to resort to self-help.
