Members of the Benue State House of Assembly from Benue South Senatorial District have dissociated themselves from the petition presented on the floor of the House of Representatives by the member representing Ado Okpokwu Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, Phillip Agbese, calling on the National Assembly to take over the functions of the State Assembly.

In a motion dissociating themselves from what they described as a frivolous petition, the member representing Otukpo Akpa State Constituency, Mr. Kennedy Angbo, accused Agbese of misrepresentation of facts.

Angbo said Agbese is “a total embarrassment and disgrace to the people of Zone C Senatorial District of Benue State who are known to be brave, intelligent and fair in their outings on matters of over all public interest”.

He said, “Since yesterday that Hon. Agbese indulged in that shameful and disgraceful act of presenting a petition against his own State Assembly, I have been inundated with several calls from the people of the zone urging me as one of their representatives to rise up and dissociate them from the unruly and barbaric display of unpatriotic behavior of the federal lawmaker against his state constituency and zone.”

Ruling, the Speaker, Mr. Aondona Dajoh called on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas to disregard the petition presented by Philip Agbese.

The Speaker revealed that the Benue State House of Assembly is thoroughly embarrassed by the show of shame that the lawmaker has chosen to indulge in and urged the House of Representatives not to take Agbese seriously.
