Bandits shoot resident as police foil attack in Katsina community

The Police Command in Katsina State has foiled a bandits’ attack on a community in Dandume Local Government Area and neutralised two suspected bandits.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Aliyu Abubakar, on Thursday in Katsina.

He said: “Information was received on Tuesday at the Dandume Divisional Police station that some suspected bandits, armed with dangerous weapons, had attacked Gidan Soda village, Dandume LGA.

“They fatally shot one Hassana Muhammad before the arrival of security operatives.

“Upon receipt of the report, the DPO quickly mobilised operatives, who, in collaboration with the military and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), responded to the scene.

“The team engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, successfully foiling the attack as the hoodlums fled the scene due to superior firepower.”

The police spokesman further revealed that the bodies of two bandits and one Boxer motorcycle were recovered at the scene.

Aliyu added that efforts were underway to arrest the fleeing suspects as investigation continues.
