Zamfara Correctional Service gets new Controller

Zamfara Correctional Service gets new Controller
Zamfara State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCS, has got a new Controller of Corrections, Musa Tanko.
He took over from DCC Tanko Isah ikoh who worked in acting capacity after the retirement of Controller Shehu İbrahim.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the spokesman of the Command, ASC1 Mustapha Abubakar.
According to the statement, the handing and taking over ceremony was done on the at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Gusau, the State capital.
The statement added that Controller Musa, from of Kaduna State, is a thoroughbred correctional Administrator, who served in different formations and held various positions in his Career with the Nigerian Correctional Service.
The newly posted Controller, until his present appointment, was serving as Controller incharge of Operations and also Second in Command to the Zonal Coordinator, Zone B Kaduna.
He holds his first degree in Education and a Masters in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, both from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Musa attended several mandatory and professional courses in and outside the country, notable were the United Kingdom and United States of America in 2014 and 2016, respectively, noting that he has vast administrative and Correctional experiences.
He was a United Nations Mentor in post Conflict area of Liberia for about two years, 2009 to 2011.
Addressing the staff, Controller Musa charged them to be disciplined, punctual and dedicated to their duties, as well as shun absenteeism from work.
According to him, his door remained open for meaningful suggestions from the staff.
Musa thanked the Acting Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuce, for finding him worthy to be appointed as Controller of Corrections, Zamfara State Command, assuring that he will justify the confidence reposed in him.
Earlier, the Acting Controller, DCC Tanko Isah Ikoh, commended all staff at Zamfara State Command for their hard work, discipline and commitment to duties during his short acting period.

One of the bandits’ leaders, Kachalla Dan Lukuti, who terrorized Zamfara communities, has died in a mysterious circumstance.
DAILY POST gathered that the terrorist, known for terrorizing communities in Zamfara and Katsina States, died after succumbing to an unidentified sickness that made him to be barking like a dog before his death.
It was also learnt that Dan Lukuti was brought down by the illness about a week ago.
He developed unusual symptoms that included violent aggression, uncontrollable spasms, and eventually continuous barking sounds like a dog.
DAILY POST further learnt that his foot-soldiers were unable to approach him due to the mysterious nature of his illness, as they distanced themselves from him, until he finally died.
It was also gathered that Dan Lukuti was a notorious bandits’ kingpin, operating from the Kokonba forest in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
He was said to had been controlling over 50 armed bandits and was responsible for multiple attacks in Dan Jiloga, Rijiya, Zonai, Magami, and along the Gusau-Magami highway, extending his banditry activities to Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
His terror reign was marked by unbearable plights.
A local source disclosed that his foot-soldiers forced villagers in Kizara, Tsafe local government area of Zamfara State, to conduct his burial, laying him to rest at the local primary school.
It is believed that his mysterious death could either be linked to rabies or spiritual repercussions for his prolonged terror activities.
People of the axis believed that his death could not be unconnected with the intensified military operations, targeting bandit enclaves across the Northwest zone.

The seven candidates, according to a statement signed Eno Olotu, Director, Information and Public Relations, satisfied the required marks to advance to the third and concluding stage of the exercise.
The statement said that the process underscores the government’s dedication to a transparent and merit-based selection process and ensuring that only the most qualified individuals ascend to these pivotal leadership roles.
The shortlisted candidates are said to have successfully navigated previous stages, including a comprehensive written examination and an Information and Communication Technology, ICT, proficiency test, which evaluated their knowledge, skills, and readiness to lead at the highest levels of public service.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fairness and excellence in the selection process.
She emphasized that the “invitation of these candidates to the oral interview stage reflects the government’s resolve to appoint leaders of integrity, competence, and vision, capable of steering the Federal Civil Service toward achieving national development goals.”
According to her, the upcoming oral interviews will provide a platform to assess the candidates’ leadership qualities, policy-making acumen, and strategic vision.

A federal judge in the United States of America has restored President Donald Trump’s deferred resignation program for federal workers.
US District Judge George O’Toole of Massachusetts made the ruling in favor of Trump’s administration on Wednesday.
Fox News reports that a legal group, Democracy Forward, had filed a lawsuit over the program on behalf of labor unions that represent thousands of employees.
The litigation came after a deferred resignation program asked government workers to stay or leave after Trump required them to return to their offices shortly after his inauguration.
However, the judge in his decision wrote that the plaintiffs in the case “are not directly impacted by the directive” and denied their case on that basis.
“The unions do not have the required direct stake in the Fork Directive, but are challenging a policy that affects others, specifically executive branch employees. This is not sufficient,” O’Toole wrote.
The judge also went in to assert that his court lacks subject matter jurisdiction to consider the plaintiffs’ pleaded claims, noting similar cases where courts were found to have lacked authority.
Fox News said the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the decision the first of many legal wins for the President.
“The court dissolved the injunction due to a lack of standing,” Leavitt said.
“This goes to show that lawfare will not ultimately prevail over the will of 77 million Americans who supported President Trump and his priorities.”
DAILY POST recalls that the US Office of Personnel Management, OPM, started emailing more than 2 million federal civilian workers offering them buyouts to leave their jobs shortly after Trump’s inauguration.
The offers angered labor leaders, with the president of the National Federation of Federal Employees, NFFE, calling it “shady.”
NFFE claimed the deals should not be taken seriously.

The newly sworn-in Attorney General Pam Bondi announced this during a press conference on Wednesday.
“This is a new DOJ. New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops. It stops today,” Bondi announced at a news conference.
Fox News reports that also charged is Mark Schroeder, commissioner of the New York Department of Motor Vehicles.
Bondi cited New York’s Green Light laws, also known as the Driver’s License Act, which allows illegal immigrants to get a driver’s license and also prevents certain federal agencies from accessing New York State’s driver’s license information.
“They have green light laws, meaning they’re giving a green light to any illegal alien in New York, where law enforcement officers cannot check their identity if they pull them over,” Bondi said.
The Justice Department had also last week asked a federal judge to strike down sanctuary policies in Illinois and Chicago.
DAILY POST reported that President Trump had announced a flurry of immigration-related executive orders since taking office on 20 January.
The development has paved the way for a widespread effort to crack down on undocumented migrants in the US.
