The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Bauchi, has matriculated 4,364 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony in Bauchi on Friday, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Garba, congratulated the newly admitted students, urging them to abide by the university’s rules and regulations.

He cautioned against engaging in destructive behaviors such as drug abuse, cultism, and other social vices, emphasizing that such actions would not be tolerated.

“These vices have no place in our university, and we will not condone them. Not only do they threaten your physical and mental well-being, but they also undermine the values of this institution and the trust your parents and guardians have placed in us,” he stated.

The Vice-Chancellor encouraged students to remain focused on their studies, explore their passions, and surround themselves with positive influences.

“The choices you make today will shape your future. We want to see you succeed,” he added.

Garba also commended the Federal Government for establishing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, describing it as a crucial initiative to support indigent students in tertiary institutions.

“With the rising cost of registration fees and educational materials, many students face financial challenges. The Fund bridges this gap by providing affordable loans, enabling students to pursue their education without financial strain,” he said.
