Alleged defamation: Your husband not in our custody, police tell mom of six

A mother of six, Hafsat Dahiru, has appealed to Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State and the Commissioner of Police, David Iloyanomon, to assist in securing the release of her husband, Musa.

But the police in the state have denied that Musa is in their custody.

Dahiru, an employee of the state Ministry of Agriculture, was reportedly arrested and detained following a social media post criticising the governor’s decision on the appointment of the new Chief of Takum.

The controversial audio, which is currently trending online, was observed to have faulted the governor for succumbing to retired General T. Y. Danjuma’s dictates on the traditional stool of Takum council.

Distressed by her husband’s detention, Hafsat who on Wednesday made an emotional appeal through media practitioners in the state, said, “My six children are dying of hunger since there is nobody to provide food for them since my husband’s arrest three weeks ago.”

Lamenting that two of her children are down with sickness, and that she has no money to take them to the hospital or even buy medicines for them, she called on the governor to show compassion and facilitate her husband’s release.

Debunking the alleged involvement of his principal in Dahiru’s detention, the spokesman to the governor, Emmanuel Bello, described the alleged involvement of Kefas as false.

Bello said, “The governor is a very humane person who abhors injustice and human rights violations.”

When contacted, the police acting spokesperson, Gambo Kwache, denied knowledge of the arrest, stating that “we don’t have anybody bearing such name in any of our custody.”
