The clarification follows claims by the Crime Check Foundation (CCF) that Nana Agradaa was not in prison days after being handed a 15-year jail term for defrauding by false pretence and charlatanic advertisement.
Her lawyer, Richard Asare-Baffour, described the reports as misleading and unfounded. He stressed that his client is currently serving her sentence at Nsawam and that all necessary prison admission processes have been completed.
“Nana Agradaa is not missing; she is in Nsawam prison. The allegations that she has not been committed are false and must be disregarded,” Asare-Baffour stated firmly.
He further described the 15-year sentence handed to the controversial evangelist as “a typical example of clandestine justice,” arguing that the conviction was influenced more by public sentiment than concrete evidence. He revealed that his team has already filed an appeal against the judgment and is actively seeking bail pending the outcome.
The lawyer also addressed another legal case involving Agradaa, in which she is accused of publishing nude images. Despite her incarceration, the High Court has directed that she be produced to open her defence in that matter.
The Crime Check Foundation had earlier suggested that delays in Agradaa’s committal to prison were due to administrative lapses, sparking widespread speculation and public concern over her whereabouts.
However, Asare-Baffour insisted that the narrative was an attempt to create unnecessary confusion and undermine confidence in the justice system. He called on the public and media to rely on verified information and avoid spreading sensational claims.
Agradaa, a former fetish priestess turned evangelist, has been a controversial figure, attracting both a loyal following and sharp criticism over the years. Her sentencing last week reignited debates over fraudulent religious practices and the protection of vulnerable people from spiritual scams.
Meanwhile, her legal team remains resolute, vowing to challenge what they describe as a miscarriage of justice and to restore her freedom through the appellate courts.
