AFCON 2025: Alebiosu steps up recovery from injury

Tochukwu Nnadi has opened up about his maiden call-up to the Super Eagles, DAILY POST reports.

The Zulte Waregem midfielder was named in Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations last week.

Nnadi is not new to national team football, having previously represented Nigeria at the U-20 level. He was part of the Flying Eagles squad for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The 22-year-old admitted that the invitation to the Super Eagles came as a surprise to him.

“I was young and I was always dreaming to be in the national team one day. I played in the U-20, and now I’m in the Super Eagles. Though I was not expecting it to be too soon, but now I’m here and I’m happy,” he told the Super Eagles media.

Nnadi also stated that he is ready to help the Super Eagles claim the title in Morocco.

“I know being in the national team comes with a lot of pressure. I come from a country with a lot of people, so playing for them is heavy. But I’m here to show my quality, fight for the team, and I hope we win the AFCON,” added Nnadi.

AFCON 2025: Super Eagles invitation big surprise – Nnadi 

The Super Eagles have touched down in Fes, Morocco, for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, DAILY POST reports.

Head coach Éric Chelle and his players arrived in the Moroccan city on Thursday night.

They spent five days in a preparatory camp in Cairo, Egypt.

The Super Eagles lost 2-1 to the Pharaohs of Egypt in their only pre-AFCON friendly at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday.

The three-time African champions will intensify preparations for the competition on Friday.

Nigeria’s opening fixture is against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania next Tuesday.

Super Eagles land in Fes for AFCON 2025

Former England player Paul Merson has claimed that Pep Guardiola could leave Manchester City if Arsenal end up winning the Premier League title this season.

Going into this weekend’s fixtures, Mikel Arteta’s side maintain top spot, sitting two points clear of City in second place.

Merson is confident that his former club will end their 22-year wait for the trophy.

He told Sky Sports: “I think they [Arsenal] win the league. There are 22 games to go.

“If there were six games to go and I was sitting here and it was two points, then I’d say Man City!

“And I think if they don’t win it this season, I think he (Guardiola) will know that it will probably be an Arsenal league to dominate for a while, and I think he’ll get out while he’s still ahead.”
