
Six worshippers, who were abducted from a Celestial Church a few days ago from Uso community, Owo Local Council Area of Ondo State, have been freed from captivity.
It was gathered that the victims regained freedom on Monday night following their release in the Ilado community, Akure North Local Council Area of the state.
According to sources, the sum of N9 million was paid as ransom to the abductors before the victims were released.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, had disclosed that a suspect had been arrested by operatives of the Command in connection with the abduction of the worshippers.
Lawal, who revealed that five of the abducted worshippers are pregnant women and one is physically challenged, expressed concern that a church premises had been turned into a maternity centre.
Following the development, the police boss subsequently advised religious centres to suspend night worship amid the security challenges in the state.
