The Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has strongly condemned the recent wave of killings, sexual violence, and abuse targeting women, children, and vulnerable groups across the country, declaring, “Enough is enough.”

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Jonathan Eze, the Minister pledged to intensify efforts to enhance the national response system for protecting women, children, and other at-risk groups.

Expressing deep concern, the Minister highlighted the alarming rise in cases of sexual violence, physical abuse, emotional maltreatment, child trafficking, and moral exploitation, particularly within schools, homes, and communities.

“This must stop immediately,” she stated emphatically. “Violence against women and children is unacceptable. It is our moral and legal duty to safeguard these vulnerable groups from every form of abuse and harm.”

The Minister further described reports of violence against children as devastating, emphasizing that such acts are a gross violation of their fundamental rights. “Every child has the right to live in an environment that is safe, secure, and nurturing—free from fear, harm, or exploitation,” she added.

She stressed that schools, homes, and communities should be safe havens, not sources of distress or suffering.

“We are committed to taking swift and decisive action against those responsible for such heinous crimes, as they undermine the core values that bind our society together,” the statement concluded.
