A resident of Osun State, Segun Olowookere, who was sentenced to death for stealing chicken, has met with Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Naija News reports that this comes barely a week after Olowookere was released from the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison following his pardon by Governor Adeleke.

A video that surfaced online captured when Olowookere and his mother walked to meet Adeleke at an event and knelt to greet him.

It would be recalled that Olowookere was one of the 53 convicts pardoned by Governor Adeleke on December 26.

The predicament of the Osun State resident, who was sentenced to death by hanging for stealing a chicken and eggs in 2010, was brought to the limelight after a viral interview with Biola Adebayo.

Olowookere’s parents claimed some police officers in Osun State wrongfully arrested their son.

Olanrewaju, his father, alleged that a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), requested money for his release, but the inability to pay resulted in his son’s wrongful imprisonment.

Meanwhile, Adeleke has signed the ₦427 billion 2025 appropriation bill into law.

Adeleke signed the appropriation bill on Monday at the Exco Lounge, Governor’s Office, in the presence of his cabinet members and representatives of the legislative arm.

Naija News reports that the House of Assembly passed the bill after adding ₦37 billion to the ₦390 billion proposal presented to the House by Adeleke.

In signing the 2025 budget, entitled the ‘Budget of Growth and Sustainable Development’, Adeleke commended the legislature and his cabinet members.
