Security operatives recover rustled cow, arrest four suspects in Benue

Security operatives in Benue State, have recovered a rustled cow and apprehended four suspects over an alleged armed robbery and cattle rustling incident in Otukpo Local Government Area.

Sources disclosed that the breakthrough followed investigations into a cattle rustling complaint earlier reported on March 9.

According to the sources, one of the stolen cows was found in the possession of a suspect identified as Tunde Rafiu from Okpomaju Village in Otukpo LGA.

During questioning, Rafiu allegedly admitted that he bought the cow from another suspect, Maki Damina.

Following the confession, security personnel arrested Damina alongside two additional suspects believed to be part of the rustling syndicate.

Further intelligence from security sources suggested that other stolen cattle could be concealed in a suspected bandits’ hideout located in the Amla area of Otukpo LGA.

They noted that deploying police air support for aerial surveillance could help identify the hideout, dismantle the criminal network and recover the remaining cattle.

Investigations are still ongoing as authorities intensify efforts to track down other members of the group.
