Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has dismissed Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola’s claims that the Gunners are the best team in the world.
In a pre-match press conference before Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Wolves, Guardiola expressed his belief that Arsenal is the best team in the world.
However, when questioned about Guardiola’s remarks, Arteta downplayed the compliment, asserting that his team cannot yet be considered the best due to their lack of major trophies.
“I don’t know,” Arteta said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League tie with Manchester United on Sunday when asked about Guardiola’s claims.
“I think we’re the team that wants to be constantly better, that were doing a lot of things right, but we’re far from perfect.
“To be related to that [best team in the world], you’ve to win a lot of things [trophies] and we’ve not.”

AFCON: Algeria were scared of Nigeria, no shot on target – Super Eagles’ Osayi-Samuel
Super Eagles defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel has claimed that Algeria were scared of Nigeria during both sides’ AFCON quarter-final tie on Saturday.
According to the Birmingham City star, Algeria had no shot on target against Nigeria throughout the duration of the match.
Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams scored for Nigeria in the second half as the North Africans suffered elimination from the AFCON.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Osayi-Samuel said: “Algerians were scared of us, and obviously we took advantage of that and today was perfect.
“They didn’t have one shot on target, a team that scores a lot of goals. So we kept a clean sheet and scored two goals. We dominated the game.”
Osayi-Samuel, who was impressive against Algeria, will now hope to lead Nigeria to victory when they face Morocco in the AFCON semi-final on Wednesday.

AFCON 2025: Congo’s Ndala to officiate Morocco vs Comoros opener
Congolese referee Jean-Jacques Ndala will take charge of the opening game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, between hosts Morocco and Comoros.
The tournament’s curtain-raiser will take place at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat on Sunday evening.
The encounter will kick off at 7 pm local time.
Ndala is one of the continent’s most experienced and highly regarded match officials.
He will be officiating at his fourth AFCON, having previously served at the 2019, 2021 and 2023 editions.
Ndala will be assisted by his compatriots Guylain Bongele Ngila (assistant referee one), Mwanya Gradel Mbilizi (assistant referee two), and Messie Nkounkou Mvoutou (fourth official).
The Video Assistant Referee, VAR, team will be led by Mauritania’s Dahane Beida, while Babacar Sarr, also from Mauritania, will assist Beida.
Congo’s René Daniel Louzaya will serve as the referee’s assessor.
