The Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan, has expressed concern over the absence of Vice President Kashim Shettima’s photograph on a banner displayed at an APC event in the North East.
The banner featured images of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, five APC governors from the North East, and the party’s National Legal Adviser. However, Shettima’s picture was missing.
Speaking at the event, Lawan described the omission as unfair, particularly as the programme was held in Maiduguri, the vice president’s hometown.
He warned that such actions could cause problems, recalling that a similar issue disrupted an APC meeting in Gombe last year.
“This same issue caused the problem in Gombe, and now it is happening again in Borno,” he said. “I don’t understand the organisers’ reason, but it is not right.”
He questioned how the image of a sitting vice president from Borno and the North East could be excluded.
Many people at the venue expressed their support for his complaint with loud applause.
APC governors and other party leaders were in Maiduguri for the North East zonal public hearing on proposed amendments to the party’s constitution.
