Vice-Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, says Dr Bawumia’s administration stands ready to join hands with anti-corruption crusaders and institutions irrespective of differences to fight against the canker of corruption.

Dr Prempeh made these remarks when journalist and anti-corruption crusader, a fierce critic of the Akufo-Addo government, Manasseh Azure Awuni, presented copies of his new book titled, “The President Ghana never got” to the Bawumia 2024 Campaign on Tuesday, 13th August, 2024.

According to Dr Prempeh, the work that Manasseh is doing, is very much in line with the Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s resolve to fight corruption using technology and the relevant institutional and legal framework.

Receiving the book on behalf of the Flagbearer, Dr Prempeh was unequivocal about the gesture not constituting an endorsement of the book and its content, but a move to encourage the author on his anti-corruption path.

“My acceptance of the books on behalf of His Excellency Alhaji Dr Mahamadu Bawumia and myself is to encourage you to continue in your journalistic exploits and as an anti-corruption crusader. It is in no way to be taken as an endorsement of the contents of the book which we are both yet to read. I must say this emphatically because of the snippets I have come across from the book launch” he said

Dr Prempeh reiterated his confidence in Dr Bawumia in fighting corruption, saying he will be ruthless in the fight against the canker of corruption, predicting that, Manasseh by the end of December 2028, will be documenting the sterling performance of Dr Bawumia’s fight against the canker, “The Flagbearer, that I know, Alhaji Dr Bawumia is going to fight corruption without fear or favour; watch this space. And who knows, come December 2028 after his first term, we might be seeing snippets of a different sort, of your next book on the 6thPresident of the 4th Republic of this country” he remarked

On Manasseh’s recent choice, publicly, of Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman over him, Dr Prempeh, jovially said “I know you prefer “…Naana Jane to Napo”. That’s okay, I can bet you though that come end of November this year, you would have had a change of heart and mind and might even have become a disciple” amidst laughter.

Political Watchers, have described the development as one that goes to underscore NAPO’s nature of ensuring that the right things are done in the interest of Ghana even if it means engaging and working with his fierce critics and ‘political assailants’
