Lagos State Government and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, have stressed the need for secondary school students to use the internet responsibly, safely, and confidently, while surfing the internet for educational research.

They gave the advice in Lagos during the Child Online Safety Protection and Reporting of Abuse (COSPRA Summit), organised recently by the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation (NKF).

Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, JamiuTolani Alli-Balogun, who was represented at the summit by the Assistant Chief Education Officer, Basic Education Services at the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Solahudeen Qasim Oyekunle, said as technology continued to evolve, students should ignore the negative vices of the evolving technology and embrace the positive aspect of the internet while surfing the internet for academic research.

The Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, Prof. Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola, who was represented at the summit by the Dean, Faculty of Education of the university, Prof. Adebayo Ladipo, advised students from different secondary schools in Lagos that attended the summit, to be vigilant while browsing the internet, and avoid visiting negative sites and also avoid discussing with people online that could mislead them.
