The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has taken into custody a young man who attempted to enter the military through the submission of forged documents during the ongoing recruitment screening at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
The fraudulent credentials were quickly detected by specialists stationed at the venue to authenticate applicants’ paperwork.
According to GAF personnel at the scene, the verification team immediately flagged the discrepancies, leading to the suspect’s swift arrest in what officers described as part of efforts to prevent “fraudsters infiltrating the military.”
The individual has since been handed over to state security authorities for further investigations and formal processing.
Colonel Evelyn Asamoah, Director of Protocol, confirmed the development and noted that the enhanced verification system in place is meant to protect the integrity of the recruitment exercise.
She explained that the process has been deliberately strengthened to ensure fake applicants are identified early and removed from the system before they can advance further.
Aside from this incident, GAF officers report that the screening has returned to normal after the November 12 stampede, which claimed six lives and forced a temporary suspension of the exercise.
