The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has announced the tragic death of a National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) member following a fatal motor accident near the Obuasi Airport area on Wednesday, 19 November 2025.
The accident involved a team of five NAIMOS personnel who were conducting a major operation to curb illegal mining activities within the Obuasi enclave. While one team member has been confirmed dead, the remaining four sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured officers.
The Ministry has launched a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to the welfare of all frontline personnel, pledging full support and care to the team during this difficult period.
