GTA rallies sector players ahead of “December in GH” 2025

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has begun stakeholder engagements as part of preparations for the 2025 edition of December in GH, a flagship signature of the broader Black Star Experience.

The meeting, held on Wednesday, 19 November 2025 at the Shipper’s Authority, brought together event organisers, industry partners, security agencies and key players across the tourism and creative sectors.

Addressing participants, the Chief Executive Officer of the GTA, Maame Efua Houadjeto, underscored the need for stronger coordination, discipline and operational excellence as Ghana gears up for another globally anticipated festive season.

She stated that the Black Star Experience—anchored by the momentum of December in GH—has evolved into a national economic engine, driving tourism arrivals, stimulating investment, expanding the creative economy and boosting regional participation.

According to her, the expanding event calendar reflects the international community’s growing confidence in Ghana as a premium destination for culture, entertainment and hospitality.

Mrs. Houadjeto stressed that Ghana’s growth must be matched with responsibility, particularly as expectations rise each year. She emphasised the importance of enhancing safety, compliance and overall service quality across all events, saying visitors choose Ghana because of the country’s authenticity and world-class hospitality, and the industry must continue to safeguard that trust.

The engagement focused on improving inter-agency coordination, identifying operational gaps, anticipating potential risks and reinforcing standardised procedures for seamless execution.

The GTA boss called for openness, agility and a solutions-driven mindset among all institutions involved in delivering this year’s festivities.

She outlined three critical operational priorities for the 2025 December in GH season:

  1. Strengthening compliance and safety protocols across all event venues.
  2. Ensuring timely communication and coordination to prevent last-minute disruptions.
  3. Enhancing data collection and reporting to support evidence-based planning and impact assessment.

Mrs. Houadjeto assured stakeholders of the Authority’s continued support through structured facilitation, improved inter-agency responsiveness and swift resolution of operational bottlenecks.

The Ghana Tourism Authority reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the global credibility of the Black Star Experience and delivering a December season that positions Ghana at the forefront of cultural and tourism excellence.
