President John Dramani Mahama, has appointed Dr Martin Kolbil Yamborigya, as the Acting Commissioner of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD) of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), effective Monday, November 17, 2025.
His appointment, follows the retirement of Mr Edward Apenteng Gyambrah, who served the Authority with distinction during his tenure.
Dr Yamborigya enters his new role with a reputation as a distinguished Tax Administrator and Public Finance Expert, widely respected across Ghana’s revenue administration landscape.
With over two decades of progressive experience, he has built an impressive career defined by exceptional leadership in domestic tax policy, compliance management and revenue mobilization.
Throughout his service in the GRA, Dr Yamborigya has held several senior management positions that have helped shape the modernization of Ghana’s tax administration.
His previous roles, include Audit Team Leader for the Tax Audit Unit, Head of Audit at the Legon Medium Taxpayer Office, Head of Post Clearance Audit, and Head of Audit for Special Audits (Audit Factory).
He also served as Acting Assistant Commissioner at the Commissioner DTRD’s Secretariat.
Most recently, Dr Yamborigya served as Assistant Commissioner and Head of Tax Audit at the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO). During his tenure, he spearheaded significant reforms aimed at improving taxpayer compliance, expanding the tax base, and enhancing the use of technology in domestic tax operations.
His strategic vision and commitment to service excellence have earned him great respect within the Authority and the broader tax administration community.
As he steps into his new role as Acting Commissioner, expectations are high that Dr Yamborigya will bring renewed energy to Ghana’s domestic revenue mobilization drive.
His appointment is anticipated to strengthen the GRA’s efforts in leveraging digital solutions, improving stakeholder collaboration and enhancing compliance mechanisms to support national revenue goals.
Management and staff of the GRA have extended their congratulations to Dr. Yamborigya and expressed confidence in his ability to deliver a successful tenure.
