Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has criticized the Department of State Services (DSS) following the dismissal of 115 of its personnel, describing the security agency as a symbol of incompetence.

Yesufu revealed this in a post on her X handle on Wednesday.

“If incompetence needed an organization to describe it, this DSS will fit aptly,” she wrote.

Her comment came shortly after the DSS announced that it had dismissed 115 personnel as part of its ongoing internal reforms.

The agency explained that the affected officers were let go over various acts of misconduct.

In a statement released on Tuesday on their official X handle, the DSS warned Nigerians to beware of some of the dismissed officers who still parade themselves as serving operatives.

“The Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel,” the statement read.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals.”

The DSS also said the names of the dismissed personnel have been published on its official website for public verification.
