Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has predicted that Muslims will in future make it to the White House as president.

The statement comes after Uganda-born Mamdani won New York City mayor, emerging as the first Muslim to be elected into the position.

He wrote: “Mamdani has made it! ICU in Washington should be ready for heart attacks! Muslims will make it to WH,” Gumi wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

DAILY POST reports that Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist, defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo in a contentious fight for the future of New York City.

The 34-year-old state assemblyman from Queens, triggered a political earthquake when he got victory in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary in June.

He pulled an upset over a former governor who was widely expected to win the party’s nomination.

President Donald Trump himself had watched the race closely.

He labeled Mamdani a “100% Communist Lunatic” and “My little communist” — monikers Mamdani has rejected.

On the eve of Election Day, Trump endorsed Cuomo and floated cutting federal funds to New York City if Mamdani won.
