A delegation from the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), led by Dr. Francis Baah, Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Agronomy and Quality Control, has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, following her passing.
Dr. Baah extended the Board’s deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and described the late Mrs Agyeman-Rawlings as a visionary leader and tireless advocate for women’s empowerment and national development.
He highlighted her unwavering commitment to improving livelihoods across the country, particularly her advocacy for women, including women in cocoa farming which remains a lasting inspiration.
He also commended her long-standing dedication to social transformation, noting that her influence transcended politics and reached rural communities where her initiatives empowered women to participate actively in the economy.
The COCOBOD Deputy Chief Executive said the institution was deeply grateful for the late former First Lady’s invaluable contributions to nation-building, which supported Ghana’s broader development agenda.
He said her legacy as a devoted mother, a trailblazer, and a visionary leader will continue to inspire generations to come.
Mrs Agyeman-Rawlings, who was the founder and leader of the 31st December Women’s Movement, championed women’s rights and social development throughout her lifetime. Her passing has drawn tributes from across political, civil, and social circles for her pivotal role in advancing gender equality and national progress.
