Mr Eazi returns to his banku roots with nostalgic ‘Maison Rouge’ EP

GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY Award-winning musician Mr Eazi has released his highly anticipated new EP, “Maison Rouge”, marking a creative return to his Banku Music roots and a heartfelt tribute to his earliest supporters.

Named after the Cotonou house where he lived while developing the project, Maison Rouge serves as both a homecoming and a sonic evolution. The EP revives the warmth and intimacy of Mr Eazi’s early classics like “Skin Tight” and “Bankulize” while layering in contemporary production and storytelling.

The seven-track collection weaves together palm-wine melodies, smooth vocal textures, and modern afropop rhythms, creating a blend that feels nostalgic yet fresh.

Leading the project, “Violence” — produced by long-time collaborators P.Priime and E.Kelly — is mellow and romantic, while “Make E No Tey” delivers uplifting rhythms perfect for any dancefloor. “Busstop” draws from upbeat Ghanaian hiplife, blending afrofusion and high-energy percussion that celebrate Mr Eazi’s West African roots.

Other standout tracks include “Casanova”, co-produced by TXMO and Kel-P, and “Corny” and “Love Me Now”, which round off the project’s emotional and melodic range.

With over two billion streams and 15 million social media followers, Mr Eazi’s Maison Rouge is a creative rebirth — a reaffirmation of the Banku Music sound that redefined Afropop and introduced him to global audiences.
