The member representing Isuikwuato/Umunnochi Federal Constituency of Abia State, Amobi Ogah, has spoken on the suit he filed in court seeking the prosecution of the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the alleged forgery of election results in 2023.

Ogah, in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, said he was not on a selfish mission but was determined to curb electoral offences.

He explained that the suit, FHC/ABJ/CS/1308/2025, filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja, was intended to ensure that electoral offences do not occur again before and during the 2027 polls.

The lawmaker said the court order compelling INEC to investigate and prosecute the Minister of State for Labour, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, over the alleged forgery of election results in the constituency in 2023 was a matter he would pursue to the end.

However, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has said she is not distracted by the development, noting that her major preoccupation is assisting President Bola Tinubu in delivering his Renewed Hope Agenda to Nigerians.

In a statement she made available to journalists in Umuahia on Friday, Onyejeocha said that Amobi Ogah could not prove the alleged forgery at the tribunal.

“The witness of Amobi from the legal department of INEC Umuahia, under cross-examination, confirmed that the result tendered by my legal team was certified by INEC and that she signed it,” she said.

The minister added that she was “not a party to the order and will not be a party in the main motion on notice to be filed, where INEC will defend the suit against her by Amobi Ogah.”
