Hot SourceThe Ashanti Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has begun investigations into the mysterious death of a 20-year-old Senegalese national, identified as Cheith Toure, whose body has been deposited at the Ebenezer Mortuary at Tafo in Kumasi.
According to a police statement dated 20 October 2025, initial findings revealed that the deceased was brought to the mortuary by a man identified only as Issah, who claimed to be the victim’s brother.
Further investigations at the Manhyia Government Hospital showed that on 16 October, Issah had earlier taken Toure to the hospital in a critical condition, allegedly claiming the young man had been involved in an accident. However, hospital records later confirmed that Toure was brought in dead with several abdominal injuries.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command says it is making every effort to establish the true circumstances surrounding the death of the Senegalese national.
“Every effort is being made to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding Mr. Toure’s death,” the statement, signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police, read.
The police have appealed to the public to provide any information that could assist the investigation by contacting the Regional CID in Kumasi or calling the police hotlines — 18555, 191, or 112.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased remains at the mortuary pending further investigation and autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death.
