Hot SourceMining magnate Angela List, has been conferred with the 2025 Global Power Female Award, an exclusive honour recognising the world’s most accomplished businesswomen, at a ceremony held in New York, United States of America.
The prestigious awards, organised on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, are a collaboration between the Global Power Forum (GPF) a premier high-level platform convened by the Centre for Economic and Leadership Development (CELD) and the African Leadership Organisation (ALO).
The annual event features Heads of State, First Ladies, Global Business Leaders, and Change Makers from Africa, South America, the Caribbean Islands, and the global diaspora.
Angela List, Chief Executive Officer of Nguvu Mining, is the first Ghanaian ever to receive the award, described as “a tribute to trailblazers who have boldly reshaped the narrative of leadership, empowered communities, and created enduring change.”
Former Tanzanian President Dr Jackson Kikwete and the current Prime Minister of the Bahamas, H.E. Philip Davis, headlined this year’s GPF. Other prominent speakers included H.E. Judith Suminwa, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and H.E. Lucrecia Peinado, First Lady of Guatemala. Also in attendance were Dr Fatima Maada Bio, First Lady of Sierra Leone and President of OAFLAD, among other distinguished guests.
According to the organisers, the recognition was based on Angela List’s “journey, accomplishments, and bold leadership.”
Ms List was also inducted into the Global Power Women Network (GPWN), a premier platform for women to connect, influence, and build strategic partnerships worldwide.
Gold Standard Leadership
Angela List’s involvement in the mining sector spans at least twenty-five years, during which she has demonstrated exceptional business leadership and entrepreneurial flair, rising to the very top of the mining industry.
Nguvu Mining, the company she founded and leads, operates assets in Mali, Liberia, Burkina Faso, and other locations. Adamus Resources Limited, one of the most productive mines in Ghana, and Northern Ashanti Mines, expected to commence operations in the first quarter of 2026, form part of her extensive portfolio.
Nguvu Mining currently produces about 150,000 ounces of gold from its combined operations across West Africa, a figure expected to rise to at least 200,000 ounces when Northern Ashanti goes into full production.

Bullish Gold, More for Communities
Gold prices have been on a spectacular run over the past twenty-four months, currently hovering around US$3,800 per ounce. This represents a 194 per cent increase from October 2023, when gold traded at US$1,990 per ounce.
With the current shutdown of the United States government over its debt ceiling, analysts predict that gold could surpass the US$4,000 mark. The rise has been described as extraordinary, following earlier speculation that 2025 would peak at around US$3,000 in January.
While the surge promises higher returns relative to production costs, Ms List maintains that communities within which Nguvu operates will also see greater investment in their welfare.
“We are passionate about our host communities. We already provide scholarships, build schools, and offer financial assistance to traders, among other initiatives. We have an inbuilt mechanism for scaling up our community commitments.
Whenever gold prices rise, our contributions to our host communities increase proportionately. We are committed to changing the narrative in mining by making a profound difference in the lives of our people,” Angela affirmed.
Foremost African Female Mining Entrepreneur
Angela List continues to build an unmatched reputation for successfully managing multiple mining assets across diverse jurisdictions, a feat that positions her as one of Africa’s most outstanding female mining entrepreneurs.
While she counts her blessings, she remains committed to opening doors of opportunity for more women to rise in the industry.
“Our industry is male-dominated, and nobody gives you an inch. There are challenges, but at Nguvu, we’re here for the long haul. All industries have their unique difficulties mining is no different. But with the right leadership, regulatory compliance, and access to capital, Nguvu will remain at the very top of the mining chain,” she said.
She added: “There can be no excuses. I’m blazing the trail for many more women to become mining entrepreneurs. We must perform as expected of us.
I believe this will soon bear fruit, as many more women will take up roles in mining as engineers, senior executives, and industry professionals.”
