New Governing Board inaugurated for Ghana Tourism Authority

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has taken a significant step toward advancing the nation’s tourism sector with the inauguration of its newly constituted Governing Board. The ceremony, held yesterday, was presided over by the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie.

The newly inaugurated board comprises a diverse group of professionals from both the public and private sectors. Among the members are Gertrude Emefa Donkor, Yusif Issaka Jajah (Deputy Minister), and Maame Efua Houadjeto, the Chief Executive Officer of the GTA. Other notable appointees include representatives from key ministries such as Finance, Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Lands and Natural Resources, and Environment, Science, and Technology.

Private sector representatives on the board include Afi Amoro, Prince Anthony Bart-Appiah, Bella Korkoe Ayayee Ahu, and Darison Baba Al-Hassan. Their inclusion underscores the government’s commitment to fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive tourism growth.

The ceremony was also attended by directors from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, led by Chief Director, Joseph Kwasi Amoah.

In her remarks, Gomashie emphasized the board’s critical role in revitalizing Ghana’s tourism industry, which has faced challenges in recent years. She urged the members to leverage their expertise to promote domestic and international tourism, enhance cultural preservation, and create sustainable opportunities for economic growth.

The inauguration marks a new chapter for the GTA as it seeks to harness the collective strengths of its board members to unlock the full potential of the sector.
