The Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to job creation, economic revival, and inclusive development under the Reset Agenda championed by President John Dramani Mahama.
She was speaking at the 88th anniversary of the Asafotufiami Festival in Ada of the Greater Accra Region.
Asafotufiami, the festival of firing of Musketry, is one of the most prominent and oldest annual celebrations observed by the Chiefs and people of Ada.
It commemorates the rich diversity and heroic bravery of their ancestors, who fought in historic wars that shaped the present-day identity of the Ada people.
Describing it as an opportune moment to reflect on the Reset Agenda, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, highlighted the policy’s focus on economic recovery and nationwide development.
According to her, the initiative is designed to create enough opportunities for citizens across all regions, with a particular emphasis on youth employment.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo cited several key programmes already in motion, including the 24-Hour Plus Economy, the Edwumawura jobs initiative, the One Million Coder Programme, and planned reforms in the fisheries sector.
She explained that these policies are deliberately structured to open up the economy and empower young people with sustainable livelihoods.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo noted that job creation is directly linked to peace and security, emphasizing that across the world, peace and security are inextricably tied to jobs and decent living standards of our people.
She assured the youth of Ada that they would not be left out of the employment opportunities being rolled out under the Mahama-led agenda.
One of the key pillars of the Reset Agenda, the Big Push, is already driving massive investment in infrastructure.
The Deputy Chief of Staff revealed that the government is injecting GH₵ 13.8 billion into roads and infrastructure across the country.
This includes the reconstruction of 5,000 kilometres of roads in 166 constituencies over the next three years, with thirty-two roads soon to receive commencement authorization.
She acknowledged the strategic importance of Ada’s location and resources, stating that infrastructure development in the area will be aligned with its unique economic potential and transportation needs.
Touching on the significance of the festival, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo praised the Asafotufiami Festival as a powerful symbol of bravery and identity for the people of Ada.
Known as the Festival of Firing of Musketry, the celebration commemorates the valiant efforts of Ada’s ancestors in defending and shaping the identity of the land.
She called on the Ada community, especially the youth, to draw inspiration from the festival’s message of courage and unity.
“This festival that seeks to remember the selfless sacrifices of our forefathers must therefore inculcate into us all, especially our younger generation, a renewed belief in tolerance and peaceful resolution of our conflicts,” she stated.
The Deputy Chief of Staff was optimistic about Ada’s future, encouraging the people to embrace innovation, national cohesion, and the Reset Agenda’s vision for prosperity.
