Ghana has taken a major step toward transforming its education sector with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Education and eLearning Africa.
The agreement, signed on behalf of the Ministry by Deputy Minister Dr Clement Apaak, positions Ghana as a key player in Africa’s digital learning revolution.
Dr Apaak, emphasized that the MoU is more than a symbolic act and that it is a commitment to results-driven inclusive education.
The partnership paves the way for Ghana to host the 18th edition of the eLearning Africa Conference in Accra from June 3–5, 2026, welcoming thousands of global education experts.
Highlighting government achievements, Dr Apaak, cited progress under the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP), supported by the System Change Architecture for Learning Excellence (SCALE).
GALOP, now expanding from 10,000 to over 15,000 public schools, will reach two million primary pupils and train 64,000 teachers, thanks to support from international foundations and private sector partners.
The Deputy Minister, also spotlighted the growing role of young Ghanaian innovators in shaping education technology.
According to him, this MoU shows that Ghana is not just participating in the global education conversation but leading it.
“The Ministry of Education’s leadership in this partnership demonstrates its commitment to equitable access, technological advancement, and educational excellence across all regions of the country”, the Minister indicated
Dr Apaak, reaffirmed that this event is only the beginning of long-term collaboration that will benefit generations of learners.
In her remarks, the Founder and Executive Director of eLearning Africa, Rebecca Stromeyer, highlighted the benefits Ghana tends to gain from the conference.
She said not only is Ghana positioning itself as the destination for learning, it is opening up its citizens to the culture of learning.
According to her, this is not the first time it is holding a conference here and is seeking to enhance the successes of the maiden one.
