Tragedy has struck the Agwara community in Niger state, a week after bandits raided the Papiri Catholic school abducting 259 school children and some of their teachers, as two of the parents of the abducted kids have died suddenly.
According to findings, one of the parents, Anthony Musa, died of heart attack, while the second, a woman, whose name has not been disclosed, also died in circumstances related to that of late Anthony Musa.
The Proprietor of the School and the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, Most Reverend Dr Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, confirmed the tragic incident.
Bishop Yohanna said in a short statement confirming the story that: “The man, Anthony Musa died of heart attack but the female we don’t have the details yet because we couldn’t get the family”.
Almost one week after the kidnap, apart from the initial escape of 66 students, none of the others and their teachers have regained their freedom.
Statistics released by the school management showed that 239 of the abductees are primary school children with 14 in the secondary school section of the school while 12 others were staff members.
