Nigeria, Briech UAS Collaboration Produces First Made-in-Nigeria Attack Drones Armed With Bombs, Missiles

The Nigerian government in partnership with Briech UAS has unveiled the first indigenously manufactured attack drones with bombs and missiles.

The collaboration is between the Nigerian military and Briech which led to the successful demonstration of the attack drone and bomb at the headquarters of Briech UAS in Abuja.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, lauded the initiative as a major step in Nigeria’s journey towards self-reliance in defence technology, strengthened military capabilities and national security capabilities.

He emphasised that these drones would facilitate decisive actions against threats in an era where security challenges were increasingly complex and asymmetric.

“These force multipliers will play a vital role in enhancing the operational effectiveness of our military. Particularly in a world where global politics surrounding the procurement of advanced military hardware have become more intricate.”

According to him, “Countries that do not produce such solutions face bureaucratic bottlenecks and diplomatic hurdles when acquiring these critical platforms. We are facing such challenges directly.

“If you don’t produce what you need, you will be at the mercy of others, even when you have the financial resources to acquire them. By manufacturing these drones locally, Nigeria reduces its dependence on foreign resources, ensures prompt acquisition, and strengthens its ability to respond swiftly to security threats.

“With the brilliant minds we have, particularly among our youth, we can create outstanding technology that competes globally,” he added

The Governor of Plateau, Caleb Mutfwang, on his part stressed that Nigeria’s growth depends on recognising and patronising indigenous products.

He emphasised that the drones would play a critical role in protecting national sovereignty both in Plateau and across the nation.

According to him, some of these indigenous technologies have been deployed to Plateau already and there are significant improvement with the efficiency of ground forces.

“As a nation, we made a mistake by allowing non-state actors to acquire capabilities that nearly rival those of state actors.

“We have entered into a partnership that has enabled the deployment of these facilities in our state. We have witnessed significant improvements in the efficiency of our security forces.”

He also noted that mistakes had been made in the past regarding security and that it’s time to correct them

“Indeed, it was an error to allow non-state actors to amass capabilities that almost overpower those of legitimate state forces.

“t is time to rectify that imbalance.
We must ensure that no one within our borders possesses capabilities that match or exceed those entrusted with the constitutional duty of protecting our national sovereignty,” he advised

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Briech UAS, Dr. Bright Echefu, stated that insurgent groups such as Boko Haram, ISWAP and others had recently adopted commercial drones for reconnaissance and attack missions.

“These drones have been used to track and attack our troops. They are being deployed to coordinate ambushes and execute crude aerial strikes.”

Warri Constituency Delineation: Ijaw Storm INEC, Demand Immediate Implementation of S’ Court Order

Members of Warri Federal Constituency of Delta State on Thursday stormed the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja, where they demanded the immediate implementation of the Supreme Court order.

The constituents, who were from the Ijaw ethnic nationality in Warri, Delta State, were armed with placards with various inscriptions like, ‘We appreciate INEC; Go and verify’, ‘INEC please complete Supreme Court directive’, ‘INEC, thank you for yielding to the voice of the people’, among others.

The leader of the protesters, Chief David Reje, commended the commission for committing itself to the rule of law and the principles of good governance.

He also dismissed reports that all the stakeholders were not consulted before INEC kick-started the delineation.

Reje stated: “Why we have come here is to appreciate you, to thank you for the good work you have done since 2022, after the Supreme Court judgment. You never jettisoned the judgment. You committed yourself to the rule of law and the principles of good governance and you really took it upon yourself to engage all the stakeholders of the nationalities of the Ijaws, the Itsekiris, and the Urhobos.

“You formed a committee, you went down, you were engaging them differently, and they were heavily represented by their leaders and their traditional rulers and at the end of it, you made out time to go to the communities of all the nationalities of the Itsekiri, the Ijaws, and the Urhobos.

“And by your fieldwork, you have been able to come out with a proposed document somehow, a proposed report. And we found out that some people are trying to become funny as if they were not involved in the whole process.”

Contrary to media reports, Reje added: “We were all involved in the whole process, in Warri, in Asaba, and in everything. And everybody has given their assent to the process to be carried out.

“But I was so surprised by the protests from some corners, particularly from our Itsekiri brothers, as if they were taking it on their back. Gone are the days when wards were allocated.

“Today, wards are given diligently through a diligent ward delineation process, which is first of all carried out. So we have come to appreciate you, and to let the public know that you never did any job in the classroom, or in the bedroom, or in the room, the private room. It was a public work, a public assignment, demonstrated by mostly, going through the creeks, or the nooks and crannies of the three areas.

“Today, we have left our Egypt of political slavery to our promised land of political emancipation and political identity and dignity. Nobody will dictate a candidate for us, for councillors.

“Today, we have gotten our freedom. We have been set to make the world to know that the people who they termed minority are the true majority, which has been confirmed, which has been revealed to the whole world. The majority has come on board. The majority has come on the stream.

“The majority has come for their political emancipation and political sovereignty. Our own is not to dominate anybody. Our own is not to set somebody aside. Let’s all cooperate, work together as Nigerians, as brothers and sisters in a federal constituency to make sure that we build an environment that is politically endowed with the beauty of political democracy and freedom.”

The protesters were received by top INEC officials led by two National Commissioners, Professor Abdullahi Zuru and Malam Mohammed Haruna.

Addressing the protesters, Zuru said the commission was dedicated to doing the right thing at all times.

His words: “We want to thank you most sincerely for coming here as one of the major stakeholders in this discussion. Thank you for appreciating what the commission has done so far.

“We want to assure you as a commission, we are dedicated to doing what is right as far as democracy in Nigeria is concerned. And God willing, we will ensure that democracy at the end of the day is what decides everything that we do.”

Oladele Congratulates Sen. Adeola on Investiture as Ogun TAMPAN Grand Patron, Distinguished Personality of the Year

A Chieftain of All Progressives Congress in Ogun State and member of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Kayode Oladele, has congratulated Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, on his investiture as the Grand-Patron and Presentation of Personality of Year Award by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).

Senator Adeola was yesterday presented with the double honours by the Global President of TAMPAN, Mr. Bolaji Amusan (A.K.A Latin), at the Annual Theatre Fiesta, Lecture/Award Presentation held in Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State.

Adeola was accompanied to the ceremony by his wife, Chief Temitope Adeola, prominent APC leaders and members in Ogun State, including Hon. Kayode Oladele.

Oladele described hhe awards “as yet another testimony of Senator Adeola’s recognition and acceptability across the broad spectrum of Nigerian professionals. The Theatre practitioners in Ogun State constitute a significant and an indispensable segment of the society with enormous social influence that commands large audience and followership. There’s no doubting the fact that these awards will further boost and galvanize support for the governorship aspiration of our Distinguished Senator Olamilekan Adeola across the state and beyond”.

TAMPAN Global President, while performing the decoration, described Senator Adeola as a compassionate and transparent lawmaker who has, through his numerous developmental programs, touched the nooks and cranny of Ogun State. These awards, therefore were in recognition of his philanthropic gestures toward uplifting the less privileged in the society”.

In his response, Senator Adeola stated that his resolve to help humanity was borne out of the experience of his upbringing, saying, “My decision to serve humanity was because of my upbringing, and I will continue to serve my people. I am a lover of culture and Yoruba movie.

Senator Adeola noted with concern that the entertainment industry in Nigeria had been undervalued. He said that, “The entertainment industry has been undervalued in this side of the divide. In other part of the world, practitioners in the entertainment industry are super rich people, but let me now assure you that with the direction and commitment of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the entertainment industry should expect the best from this administration in trying to improve their lots in the industry. We will do everything to support the industry”.

The highlights of the ceremony was the donation of N50 million and presentation of a brand new Hummer Bus by Senator Solomon Adeola in support of TAMPAN’s activities in the state.

Other prominent members of TAMPAN present at the event included the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Adebayo Salami, Dele Odule, Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo), Olaiya Igwe and several others.
