The immediate past Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, says his resignation from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet is not an admission of guilt but a mark of respect for due process.

DAILY POST reports that Nnaji resigned on Monday following allegations of certificate forgery against him.

Nnaji was alleged not to have completed his university education and that both the bachelor’s degree and National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, certificate he presented to Tinubu, as well as to the offices of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, the Department of State Services, DSS, and the senate, were forged.

The Enugu-born politician, in a statement, said the decision to step down followed deep reflection and consultations with family, associates, and well-meaning Nigerians.

The former Minister added that he formally tendered his resignation to the president after what he described as a “sustained campaign of falsehood, politically motivated and malicious attacks” against his person, integrity, and office.

He stated that he had spent over five decades building a reputation anchored on hard work, honour, and service to humanity.

“These unfounded allegations and media distortions have not only caused personal distress but have also begun to distract from the vital work of the ministry and the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President.

“My decision to step aside is therefore a personal choice — not an admission of guilt, but rather a principled decision to respect the sanctity of due process and to preserve the integrity of the judicial proceedings currently before the court.

“In the end, justice will prevail, and history will vindicate the just,” he said.

The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, says Nigeria’s economy and agriculture are being held back by frequent changes in government policies and poor continuity between administrations.

Sanusi made the remarks during a joint meeting of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) held alongside the Nigeria Economic Summit in Abuja. 

The meeting focused on “Investing in Innovative Food Systems Solutions in Challenging Contexts.”

He explained that each time there is an election in Nigeria, new leaders often abandon existing plans and start all over again. According to him, the civil service, which should preserve institutional memory, has failed to do so.

“The biggest problem with our country is lack of policy continuity. Every few years, we find ourselves discussing the same problems again,” he said.

Sanusi shared his experience as a former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, when he initiated studies on six agricultural value chains to improve lending and attract investment. He said the tomato project in Kano showed promise, but outdated laws and lack of follow-up killed the progress.

“We found 13 tomato varieties good for paste production, but old laws stopped their use. Before the needed reforms could mature, the project was abandoned,” he said.

The former emir urged government to focus on building strong value chains that attract private investors, rather than depending only on public funding. 
“Government doesn’t have enough money to fix every farmer’s problem. Its role should be to create confidence for private investment,” he added.

Sanusi also warned that frequent policy reversals, such as easing food import restrictions destroy local investment and push farmers into debt.

 “When we try to reduce food prices through imports, we end up bankrupting local producers. Constant changes will never solve poverty or bring in investors,” he said.

He called for long-term, consistent policies that align with development goals to fight poverty, insecurity, and unemployment, especially in northern Nigeria.

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has restated that it remains a non-partisan socio-cultural organisation and will not support any political party ahead of 2027.

The Chairman of the Forum’s Board of Trustees, Bashir Dalhatu, made this known during a BOT meeting held at the ACF headquarters in Kaduna.

The meeting was attended by state chapter chairmen, secretaries, and members of the Arewa 100% Focus Group, who also discussed plans for the organisation’s 25th anniversary coming up in November.

Dalhatu said the Forum will now enforce stricter communication guidelines after some senior members recently made conflicting public statements on national issues. He warned that such actions could harm the unity and credibility of the ACF.

He explained that while individual members are free to join political parties of their choice, the ACF itself will remain neutral.

“We do not endorse any political party. Our role is to outline the qualities expected from anyone seeking public office,” he said.

Dalhatu emphasized that the Forum’s mission is to promote democracy, good governance, and national unity. He also expressed concern over the growing number of new northern associations duplicating the ACF’s objectives.

“Our power lies in unity and in speaking with one voice. Those forming parallel groups should reconsider and return to the ACF, which has space for everyone,” he stated.

He reminded members that when the ACF was established in 2000, prominent northern leaders, including former presidents, governors, and traditional rulers, agreed to unite all regional groups under one umbrella to promote common goals.

On insecurity, Dalhatu praised the Nigerian armed forces and security agencies for their continued sacrifices in fighting insurgency and banditry across the North. He also called for continuous improvement of security operations to ensure better results and reduce casualties.

Commenting on the recent dispute between the Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Dalhatu described the situation as “a national tragedy.”

 He accused some “unpatriotic unions and hidden cabals” of sabotaging the refinery, which he said should be a source of national pride.

He urged the federal government to act quickly, saying those responsible were “working against Nigeria’s interest.”

Dalhatu thanked all ACF members for their commitment and urged them to continue promoting peace, unity, and progress across the region and the nation.

Amid claims of genocidal killing of Christians in Nigeria, the Simon Ekpa-led Biafra Republic Government in Exile has said that the United States Congressional briefing is an open door to international recognition.

BRGIE disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, explaining details of the congressional briefing.

According to BRGIE, the US Congressional briefing on Biafra was held on September 18th, 2025.

During the briefing, Michael Rubin, senior fellow of the American Enterprise Institute, and Ogechukwu Nkere, Acting Prime Minister (APM) of BRGIE, were keynote speakers, according to a video released on X.

On his part, Nkere expressed the desire of BRGIE to enter into economic, defence, and military deals with the United States and called on the US government to sanction Nigeria for alleged human rights abuses against Biafrans.

He also demanded the release of Indigenous People of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu by Nigeria and Simon Ekpa by Finland.

“The United States Congress held a congressional briefing on Biafra on September 18, 2025, the first ever congressional briefing on Biafra in modern history.

“The congressional briefing also demonstrates Mr Nkere, who has close ties with the US government, has emerged as the new leader of the Biafran independence movement after the incarceration of Ekpa,” the statement reads.

DAILY POST recalls that some US lawmakers have been alleging that at least 7,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria this year, 2025 alone.

However, the Nigerian Government continues to insist that there is no targeted attack on Christians in the country.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has said President Bola Tinubu, members of his cabinet and the Department of State Services, DSS, must be held accountable for allowing an alleged certificate forger into the government.

Atiku was reacting to the resignation of Uche Nnaji as Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.

DAILY POST had reported that Nnaji tendered his resignation letter on Tuesday following allegation of certificate forgery.

Reacting, Atiku in a statement on Wednesday said “what should ordinarily be a matter of national shame is now being disguised as a “voluntary resignation”, an attempt to whitewash yet another scandal that typifies the forgery-ridden character of this government”.

According to the former VP, Uche Nnaji “should not have been allowed the courtesy of resignation. He should have been summarily dismissed and prosecuted for deceit and falsification”.

He stressed that by “permitting him to quietly exit through the backdoor, the Tinubu administration has once again demonstrated that it is an assembly of forgers, impostors, and morally bankrupt individuals masquerading as public servants.

“What makes this even more embarrassing is that the same Department of State Services (DSS) which screened out Mallam Nasir el-Rufai for alleged “security concerns” is the very agency that cleared this same character, Uche Nnaji. The DSS truly deserves our flowers for this national disgrace.

“Their failure of due diligence has made Nigeria an object of ridicule before the world and raises the question: how many more of such individuals are occupying sensitive positions in this government?

“This episode is not isolated. It is a reflection of a pattern, a rot that begins from the very top. The man who occupies the office of President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has for decades been enmeshed in controversies surrounding his identity, age, and academic records.

“From the Chicago State University saga to multiple contradictory claims under oath, the world has seen ample evidence that Nigeria today is led by a man who himself has been unable to credibly defend the authenticity of his own certificates.

“When a man of questionable identity leads a country, deception becomes the standard of governance. Tinubu’s personal history of alleged forgery and perjury has effectively institutionalized falsehood in public service. It is, therefore, unsurprising that his ministers and aides have taken after his example by falsifying documents, inflating records, and desecrating the moral foundation of our nation”.

Atiku further called for an independent, transparent, and comprehensive investigation into the academic and professional credentials of “all members of the Federal Executive Council, beginning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself”, stating that “Nigerians deserve to know the truth about those who preside over their lives and resources”.

The Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has demanded the transfer of powers to appoint the chairman, commissioners and secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from the presidency to an independent panel.

IPAC National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, made the request at a meeting organised by the House of Representatives Committee on Constitutional Review for leaders of political parties in Abuja.

According to him, that would guarantee INEC’s independence and strengthen public trust in Nigeria’s electoral process.

He added that under the proposal, an independent appointment committee, IAC, would be established, comprising representatives of all registered political parties, civil society organisations, the National Judicial Council, NJC, and a committee of the national assembly drawn from both majority and minority caucuses in the senate and house of representatives.

Dantalle also proposed scrapping the state independent electoral commissions, SIECs, and vesting the responsibility of conducting all LGAs elections in INEC.

“IPAC has been championing local government autonomy. Politics is local, and citizens should be encouraged to participate in grassroots politics that actively guarantees free, fair and credible local government elections,” he said.

Dantalle also sought the restoration of political parties’ funding to provide “a level playing ground for all political parties”.
