The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, on Monday decorated 29 officers of the command with their new ranks, including the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna.

The decoration ceremony took place at the Officers’ Mess in Kano state.

While speaking at the event, CP Bakori described the promotion as a well-deserved recognition of the officers’ hard work, commitment, and service to the nation.

He said that the promotions were approved by the Police Service Commission on the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Bakori thanked the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 1, for his guidance and support, which he said had helped strengthen policing in Kano.

Giving a breakdown of the promotion list, the CP said two officers were promoted from Chief Superintendent to Assistant Commissioner of Police, 21 from Superintendent to Chief Superintendent, and six from Deputy Superintendent to Superintendent of Police.

While congratulating the newly promoted officers, Bakori reminded them that the new ranks come with greater responsibilities.

“Your promotion is not merely a reward for past accomplishments but a call to greater responsibility,” he said.

“The challenges facing our nation today require innovative thinking, teamwork, and unwavering commitment. Lead by example and inspire your subordinates to do the same.”

He urged them to uphold the values of professionalism, integrity, and discipline in their service, and reassured Kano residents of the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order across the state.

Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume, has said that President Donald Trump of the United States is ignorant of the realities in Nigeria.

Featuring in an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST on Monday, Ndume stated that many Americans have a limited understanding of Nigeria’s complex challenges.

The lawmaker was reacting to Trump’s recent remarks about Nigeria and its security situation.

The former Senate Chief Whip stressed that Trump’s comments reflect the widespread misinformation many foreigners hold about the country.

He said, “I have been to America myself. The average American is innocent.
“You will find an American who lives in Ohio, grows up in Ohio, and has never been to Chicago. That’s where the problem is.”

According to him, this limited worldview leads to misguided conclusions about Nigeria, noting that he had previously raised a motion in the Senate titled ‘Urgent Need to Correct the Misconception of Nigeria Being a CPC’, aimed at addressing false impressions abroad.

“They said they have set up a committee but nothing was done, and it was treated with levity,” he added.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is not his friend.

Speaking as a guest in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television monitored by DAILY POST on Monday, Wike described Makinde as a political associate.

Recall that Makinde was among the G5 governors led by Wike who worked against Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2023 general elections.

Wike also dismissed the notion that he fell out with Makinde because of his presidential ambition to fly the flag of PDP.

“It’s not about being a PhD holder. It’s not about being an engineer or being a lawyer. That’s not it. If you want to be a presidential candidate of your party, would you allow the party to be in crisis?

“Seyi Makinde is not my friend; we are political associates, and there is no law that says political associates must remain together,” he said.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that he would support US President Donald Trump if he provides technology to combat terrorism in Nigeria.

Wike stated this on Monday while responding to questions in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television monitored by DAILY POST.

His comment comes in the wake of the Christian genocide allegation in Nigeria made by Trump.

It will be recalled that Trump recently designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over the same allegation.

The US President also said that he had asked the Defence Department to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government “continues to allow the killing of Christians”.

Responding, Wike said, “It is not enough for me to capitalise that people are dying in Plateau, Benue and other places.
“I have said that I will support Trump in providing and supporting Nigeria with technology in the fight against terrorism. I will also support any country that wants to proffer solutions in tackling terrorism in Nigeria.”
