Abati suggested that the current situation was a direct consequence of the APC’s governance failures and called on the ruling party to take responsibility for resolving the crisis.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Abati dismissed claims that the U.S. was targeting Nigeria for its natural resources, insisting that such arguments were unfounded.
DAILY POST reported that Trump recently designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, citing what he described as ongoing violence against Christians and the government’s failure to protect religious minorities.
However, the Nigerian government has strongly denied any persecution of religious groups in the country.
Just on Saturday, Trump went further to threaten possible military action against Nigeria if the situation was not addressed promptly.
Abati urged President Bola Tinubu to seek advice from elder statesmen and experienced diplomats in managing the crisis, stressing the need for seasoned hands in government decision-making.
He said: “I don’t subscribe to the argument that America is coming for our oil. They are not. They are even supplying crude oil to the Dangote Refinery. They are not buying our gas from Nigeria LNG; they are getting their gas from elsewhere. But there is a complexity, there are contradictions that we need to address.
Some people say, ‘Oh, they are coming for our resources, as they did in Libya, Syria, and other parts of the world.’ No, we should not demarket our country, but we should support the government. President Tinubu should seek help. There are people in this country, I don’t even know whether the Presidential Council on International Relations has been constituted. If it has not been constituted, now is the time. We have people who have experience. We need adults in the room, not the small people around who think they know everything. We need adults in the room.
Tinubu should call for help from Obasanjo, from Anyaoku, TY Danjuma, Babangida, from all those people. This is the mess that the APC has created, and they should correct it by acting simply.”

A large rice farm in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State was reportedly set ablaze on Sunday afternoon, November 2, 2025, by suspected herdsmen, leaving massive destruction in its wake.
The farm, owned by Mr. Ugbakayaa, was located at Tse Orbiam along the Naka–Makurdi road. Eyewitnesses said the inferno engulfed several hectares of cultivated land, destroying both standing crops and already harvested rice packed for threshing.
According to an eyewitness, Mr. Ado Bartholomew, the fire spread rapidly and consumed everything within minutes.
“The whole farm went up in flames within minutes. All the rice that was harvested and packed for threshing was destroyed,” Bartholomew said, describing the incident as a devastating loss for the family.
The Ugbakayaa family, whose livelihood depended largely on the rice farm, was left in shock and despair following the destruction.
Residents and sympathizers who visited the scene condemned the recurring attacks on farmers in the area, lamenting the growing insecurity that has crippled agricultural activities across Benue State.
They appealed to the Nigerian government and security agencies to step up efforts to protect farmers in Gwer West and other vulnerable communities who have faced persistent assaults and displacement linked to armed herdsmen.
As of the time of filing this report, security operatives had yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

FG Launches Govt-Private Sector Dialogue Series
The Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, has convened the first edition of the Government–Private Sector (GPS) Dialogue series, aimed at bridging the communication gap between government and enterprise, and to align national economic reforms with the realities of everyday business.
The maiden edition, themed, Finance and SME Growth Roundtable,” held in Ikeja, Lagos, brought together captains of industry, federal agency heads, market leaders, and key Lagos State officials. It marked the beginning of a structured and continuous dialogue between policymakers and Nigeria’s private sector, starting with the vibrant trading and entrepreneurial community of South East origin domiciled in Lagos.
In her address, Dr. Uzoka-Anite reaffirmed that the Renewed Hope administration is determined to make government more “present, responsive, and accountable.”
She emphasised that policy must not be written for the people, but with them, stressing that the GPS dialogue series is “a platform where the voices of entrepreneurs, innovators, and community leaders directly shape the priorities of governance.”
The minister highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of a business-friendly Nigeria, built on partnership and reform.
“We are transitioning from survival mode to influence mode. Government can design policy, business can activate productivity, and together, we can build prosperity,” she said.
Dr. Uzoka-Anite reiterated that this dialogue series was not a one-off consultation but the start of a new tradition of transparency and partnership between the public and private sectors.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is not a slogan – it is a social contract. When enterprise thrives, divisions fade. When opportunity is shared, hope is renewed. Together, we will make this the decade of Nigerian resurgence.”
The event featured intensive panel sessions with representatives from the Bank of Industry (BOI), Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN), CREDICORP, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Nigeria Customs Service, NOTAP, and Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), among others.
Agency heads and representatives unveiled credit schemes, single-digit loans, and export financing products available to businesses, while traders and entrepreneurs presented candid feedback on access to finance, taxation, import bottlenecks, and export readiness.
One of the most powerful moments came from market leaders who expressed renewed optimism, describing the forum as the “first genuine collaboration between government and traders in decades.”
They applauded the Minister’s initiative for “bringing government to the people” and pledged to work collectively to ensure continuity and follow-through.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, who joined the session, commended the initiative and pledged full federal support. He affirmed that “dialogue, timing, and consultation are the keys to effective reform,” and announced forthcoming digital reforms such as the National Single Window Project to enhance trade facilitation and reduce import/export costs.
By the close of the dialogue, a new WhatsApp Coordination Forum was launched to sustain engagement between federal agencies, traders, and business associations—ensuring that the dialogue translates into continuous action.
With Lagos State represented by senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Cooperatives, and the presence of major associations including Computer Village Technology Merchants (ACOVITEMN) and Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), the event underscored the shared commitment to economic transformation through collaboration.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Uzoka-Anite reiterated that this Dialogue Series is not a one-off consultation but the start of a new tradition of transparency and partnership between the public and private sectors.

A former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has stated that the suspended Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, will suffer the same political fate as former PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, who was removed in 2024 after a prolonged leadership crisis.
Speaking during a press briefing in Ado Ekiti weekend, Fayose said the PDP had once again found itself in a familiar crossroads where internal manipulation and disregard for due process had weakened its foundation.
Mohammed Abdulrahman was appointed Acting National Chairman of the PDP following the suspension of the National Chairman, Damagum; National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba; Deputy National Secretary, Setonji Koshoedo; and three other officials over allegations of misconduct and anti-party activities.
Fayose, who celebrated the suspension of Damagun, accused him of manipulating his way into office and running the party aground, saying his suspension was “long overdue and good riddance to bad rubbish”.
He described Damagum as a product of political compromise whose leadership brought confusion and stagnation to the opposition party.
The former governor congratulated the new Acting PDP National Chairman, Abdurrahman, urging him to reunite the fractured party and restore internal democracy.
Fayose said Abdurrahman’s emergence marked a new beginning for the PDP, adding that the G5 group and other concerned stakeholders would give him their full cooperation.
He further called on Abdurrahman to correct anomalies in various state chapters and prepare for a proper national convention, in line with court directives mandating state congresses before the convention.
His words: “You will recall that this is the same way Ayu’s crisis started. The former chairman, Damagum, will go the way of Ayu I can assure you. His last service to the party was before the suspension. He will not return to that office,” Fayose added.
He therefore advised the new leadership to moves swiftly and reconcile warring factions in the PDP.
Specifically, Fayose urged the Abdurrahman leadership to act quickly by uniting the aggrieved members, and make sure that he leaves no stone unturned to ensure that he conducts state congresses as ordered by the courts, and organises national convention in strict compliance with party constitution as soon possible.
“The PDP needs a leader who can bring everyone together again. Abdurrahman must rescue the party’s dwindling image and reposition it for relevance,” he said.
While clarifying that he was not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Fayose expressed his support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji, praising him over his giant strides across all sectors in Ekiti State.
“I will never be APC, but I will not condemn what is good simply because I’m in opposition. Oyebanji is doing well and I support him as an Ekiti man,” he added.

Speaking during a media chat over the weekend, Soludo stressed the importance of conversations about the killings, noting that the perpetrators in the Southeast bear Christian names and that the violence is not linked to religion.
Soludo called for deeper introspection and dialogue to address the issue, expressing confidence that the Nigerian government will respond robustly to safeguard the country.
According to Soludo: “As a country, America has its own right to have its own views about what is going on elsewhere, but when it comes to what it does, I am sure it must also act within the realm of its own international law.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Brigade Spokesperson, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, on Monday in Lokoja.
According to Abdullahi, the two victims (male and female) were rescued on Sunday in Achigili Forest along Itobe–Adumu–Ejule road by the brigade’s troops deployed at Forward Operating Base, FOB, Oguma.
“In a sustained effort to rid Kogi of criminal activities, the troops followed credible intelligence on kidnapping activities along the Itobe–Adumu–Ejule axis, as well as reports of victims’ relatives attempting to deliver ransom to secure their release on Nov. 2.
“Troops acted swiftly on the information and projected a patrol to Achigili Forest to intercept the bandits.
“However, while en route to the location, the troops came under fire from the criminals.
”In the ensuing exchange, the gallant soldiers engaged the bandits with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon two victims along with the ransom money.
“The criminals subsequently fled into the forest with various degrees of gunshot wounds. Following the encounter, the troops rescued the victims and recovered the sum of N3.8 million meant as ransom payment.
“The rescued victims were immediately debriefed to aid further operations, while the recovered cash was handed back to them.
“They are currently in safe custody at the troops’ location pending handover to the appropriate authorities,” Abdullahi said.
The Nigerian Army, Abdullahi said, remained resolute and unwavering in its determination to protect lives and property.
The army called on members of the public to continually support the military and other security agencies by providing timely and credible information that will aid in the fight against criminal elements within the state,” Abdullahi said.

The General Superitendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has debunked a report claiming he accused the United States of trying to steal Nigeria’s resources.
According to the report, Kumuyi had claimed there is no Christian genocide in the country.
But in a statement, the church has threatened legal action against those circulating false news.
They also insisted Kumuyi did not give such interview, as he has been busy with ministry work.
The statement read: “The Deeper Christian Life Ministry @dclmhq condemns in the strongest terms the malicious and entirely false news report circulated by a faceless platform which goes by the name of “Ibomfocus”
“The story with the headline: “America is Trying to Steal our Natural Resources; There is No Christian Genocide in Nigeria, says Pastor Kumuyi” is a total fabrication and the figment of the imagination of its authors.
“Pastor Kumuyi did not at any time address a press conference or make the aforementioned statement in Lagos. He has been away from Nigeria for a considerable length of time, holding programmes in the Oceania region and the Far East.
“Besides, Pastor Kumuyi is well known for focusing entirely on preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. He does not dabble into politics, as the false story mentioned above seemed to suggest.
“The Ministry warns all those bent on mischief by seeking to drag our General Superintendent into politics, or fabricating stories in his name, to desist from such venture. In the future, any such activity may attract action.”
