A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Joe Igbokwe, on Thursday said those who lost elections are using bandits to kill Nigerians in the North.
Igbokwe said election losers are using bandits to score cheap political points.
Posting on his Facebook page, the APC chieftain warned of the dangers of sacrificing Nigerians for elections.
He wrote: “Election losers are employing bandits to kill Nigerians in the North to score cheap political points. Sacrificing Nigerians for election purposes will boomerang.
“Those sponsoring the banditry may be the victims in the fullness of time.”
This comes amid the bickering between the Office of the National Security Adviser under the leadership of Nuhu Ribadu and former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.
El-Rufai had accused ONSA under Ribadu of paying ransom to bandits in the North.
But ONSA dismissed these claims as falsehood which should be disregarded.
The North has been a theatre for bandits and terrorists.

Telecommunications companies currently operating in Osun State have been admonished to guide against the rampant falling of masts, oil spillages on mast sites, and noisy power-generating sets.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo yesterday on the importance of environmental impact assessment reports for masts in the state, Ms. Morenike George-Taylor, director of Operations and Project Management at Global Transactions Nigeria Limited, explained that the rate of mast falling in the state and the noisy pollution is too alarming.
According to her, “We hear the news of masts falling, oil spillages on mast sites, and noisy generators. Protecting the environment, whether from noise pollution, contamination, or otherwise, is something that should concern us all.
“It’s about keeping our homes, our families, and our future safe. In Osun State, the telecommunications industry has grown rapidly, bringing us better connectivity and opening doors for economic opportunities. However, with this growth also comes the responsibility to make sure that our progress does not harm the environment or the people who live in our communities.
“We have had incidents where masts are falling, and this has an impact on the host community. This is why we have NESREA and why telecommunications companies are required to carry out Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) before masts are erected.”
Ms. George-Taylor narrated that this was also where the Osun State Environmental Protection Law of 2022 (as amended) comes in, saying that the law emphasises that every telecommunications project, like the installation of masts, must follow proper procedures, including carrying out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). “An EIA is not just a formality; it is a careful study to make sure projects are safe, sustainable, and beneficial for everyone,” she stated.
She further opined that: “Telecommunication companies play an important role in our daily lives. But as they build, they also need to think about the safety of the people living near these structures and the long-term impact on the environment.
“That’s why the Environmental Impact Assessment is so important, as it protects lives, property, and ensures that development benefits everyone, not just today but for generations to come.
“Oversight of telecommunications infrastructure in Osun State lies with the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation, but collaboration extends beyond the state.
The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has the direct responsibility for ensuring Environmental Impact Assessments are carried out and properly enforced across Nigeria.
“Alongside NESREA, the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) plays a key role in regulating the telecommunications sector to ensure that safety, compliance, and quality are upheld.”
George-Taylor further noted: “We want companies to see compliance as an opportunity, not a burden. By working with NESREA, the NCC, and the state Ministry of Environment, they can build trust, protect the environment, and strengthen their businesses.”
She said that at the end, “everyone wins-the people, the government, and the industry- but unfortunately, while some telecommunications companies have impeccable compliance records, others do not bother complying with the law, which has far-reaching implications. We call on all non-compliant organisations to comply with the laws on EIA.”
The director remarked that there is a need for states to partner with NESREA to effectively monitor telecommunications infrastructure within the state and ensure compliance with the laws. This is the only way to achieve a win–win situation for all parties involved. She further advised that environmental protection should be at the heart of telecommunications growth in Osun State by following the Osun State Environmental Protection Law of 2022 (as amended), and by respecting NESREA’s direct responsibility for Environmental Impact Assessments, while also engaging with the NCC, telecommunication companies can achieve sustainable growth.
“This way, they safeguard the environment, protect public health, and build stronger, more trusted relationships with the communities they serve,” she said.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that he’s having sleepless nights over the need to execute projects in the capital city and satellite towns.
Wike disclosed that the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, and former FCT Senator, Philip Aduda, have been on his neck on the need to carry out developmental projects across the capital city and its satellite towns.
The minister spoke on Wednesday during the flag-off of the reconstruction and dualisation of Karu Road, from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction, and other Karu township roads.
Mocking the FCT Senator, Ireti Kingibe, Wike said getting the government to commit to developmental projects is not about “grammar” but relationship.
According to Wike: “When you have the opportunity to relate with your people, you relate with them well. It’s not grammar; grammar does not bring projects, it’s relationship with people.
“It’s not to say that I’m a senator and nobody is inviting me. What we are talking about is to bring something to the people, dividends of democracy.
“Senator Philip Aduda, who has been somebody of the people, so last night he came to me and said, ‘Sir, this is an opportunity. Now that you are doing this Karu dualisation, there are some other small roads, if you join them, it will open the whole of Karu.’ And so, because I know that he means well for his people and talks well about his people, I conceded to him.
“And so, the people of Karu, this is your turn and we will make sure you get the benefit that you are entitled to. We have added these other roads to the roads we are doing now.”
Wike promised that the FCT Administration will rebuild Customs Clinic Junction to CBN Quarter Junction, rebuild immediately Customs Clinic Junction to EFCC, rebuild NIA Quarters Road, rebuild Pasi Road, and also rebuild Primus Hospital Road.
The minister declared that the roads would boost business and economic activities around the Karu area.
He added: “Business opportunities will thrive here. We are not just doing these roads, they will have street lights, and I have ordered the contractor to complete them within 10 months.
“The essence of Renewed Hope Agenda is to bring back hope to the people. I will be coming here very often to inspect these projects because it’s one of the projects we have lined up that our people must enjoy during the third-year anniversary of Mr. President. Let Karu be the city that everybody will be talking about.”
Wike further charged residents to remember Maikalangu and Tinubu during elections following the execution of these projects.
“Now that the Renewed Hope Agenda and the government of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is fulfilling his promise, I hope that when the time comes we will also fulfill our own promise, no be so?
“I also hope that you will remember the man who does not allow me to sleep, Maikalangu. Remember him when the time comes,” he added.

A financial literacy advocate, James Emmanuel Nwankwo, has called on Nigerians, particularly young professionals, to reassess their spending habits and embrace practical coping strategies as the country battles tough economic realities.
Presenting a paper titled “Managing and Growing Your Finances: Insights on Coping Mechanisms in the Prevailing Economic Reality” at the Young Professionals Club forum on Wednesday, Nwankwo stressed that intentional financial management is the key to stability and sustainability in the current economic climate.
“We are already halfway through the year. “September has sneaked up on us, like that unread book we swore we’d finish in January,” he said.
“While not everyone is in the same boat, many shy away from this harsh reality. The perfect time for a half-year financial audit was June 30th; the second-best time is now. Do not miss the opportunity to reset, refresh, and reposition your finances.”
He noted that the biggest challenge for many young Nigerians was no longer about how much they earned but how effectively they managed it. “The average young Nigerian today is juggling multiple expectations—rent, school fees, family support, and planning for the future. Mastering this balance requires financial skills that are rarely taught in schools or even by traditional advisers,” he said.
Highlighting the risks of poor planning, he warned, “If income earners struggle to pay rents, school fees, and basic bills while actively employed, what then happens if those sources of income are truncated? What happens when there are no emergency funds or pensions to fall back on?”
Nwankwo identified black tax, impulse buying, costly subscriptions, and extravagant social spending—such as the popular “Owanbe” parties—as major pitfalls draining the finances of young professionals. To address this, he advised creating a family support budget. “Family support works best when it is intentional, not reactive. Set aside a fixed monthly support limit to stay intentional, reduce stress, and keep your goals on track,” he said.
He further outlined practical tools such as the 50-30-20 budgeting rule—allocating 50% of income to needs, 30% to wants, and 20% to savings or debt repayment—and zero-based budgeting, which requires justifying every expense. “Budgeting is not about denying yourself; it’s about aligning your spending with your priorities,” he explained.
On investment, Nwankwo urged young Nigerians to move beyond savings to wealth-building. “Don’t just save; make your money work for you. Start small, but start smart. Treasury bills, money market funds, and bonds are safer entry points before venturing into equities. Diversify, rebalance, and always assess your risk tolerance,” he advised.
He categorised investors into conservative, moderate, and aggressive types, urging participants to identify where they belong. “Are you conservative, moderately conservative, or aggressive? Knowing yourself is the first step to making smart investment choices,” he said.
The financial expert also encouraged professionals to embrace multiple income streams through freelancing, teaching, and digital services. “You cannot rely on one source of income in today’s economy. A side hustle is no longer a luxury—it’s a survival strategy,” he stated.

The Executive Chairman of Origin Tech Group Nigeria, Prince Samuel Joseph Samuel, has admonished Nigerians to key into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of agricultural revolution captured in his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and as encapsulated in the Greener Hope Agricultural Productivity Programme (GHAPP) as a catalyst for unlocking the nation’s economic potentials.
Samuel reiterated this position while receiving the Governing Council members of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU-Ile-Ife, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamire, in continuation of talks around developing robust partnership between the university and the group.
Samuel said: “Agriculture is key to Nigeria’s growth potential.”
“In driving Nigeria’s economic development. Agriculture value-chain presents an opportunity that can easily transform Nigeria’s economy into an engine room of prosperity through partnerships, strategic investment, strong governance, and sustainable practices and as such the pivotal role of tertiary institutions such as OAU is very important.
“The 21st century had opened new vistas for economic growth, and with agriculture now in its ascendancy, commercial large-scale farming and its value-chain stand out as the most promising tool for economic enhancement. Describing large-scale agriculture as the sustainable use of innovation, mechanisation, irrigation, water resources amongst other components for growth of food systems, market re-organisation, job creation, and improved livelihoods”, Samuel said: “Nigeria was strategically positioned to benefit immensely.”
“The Nigerian population continues to grow at nearly three per cent per annum with a projection of 378 million by 2050, and with nearly 70 per cent of its population are under the age of 30 leading to increasing urbanization and invariably an increase in food demand. Ensuring food security requires value chain that connects rural and urban areas so that the expected high demand for food is achieved. Hence, the role of stakeholders including institutions like OAU generating ideas, producing skilled manpower and boosting capacity is crucial towards achieving this food challenge.”
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamire commended Prince Samuel and Origin Tech Group for the laudable and innovative focus that they are employing in solving societal challenges especially around food systems transformation. He submitted and agreed that we all should return to the farms as the panacea to solving our multifarious economic challenges.
Bamire showed enthusiasm in the various works and projects being embarked upon by the company and affirmed that partnering with an organisation such as the Origin Tech Group is valuable given the abundant technical skills, access to resources, longevity in the agriculture space will provide the right kind of impetus to the future industry leaders we are currently training. Sirika who spoke on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Tuesday, insisted that the project was a public-private partnership that followed due process and was supervised by the Infrastructure Concessioning Regulatory Commission (ICRC).
“It is a lie that I spent N100 billion, which was lost in the process. The total budget for the national carrier was N5 billion, the total amount released was N3 billion, and I left the ministry with over N1 billion,” he emphasized.
The former minister said he had no intention of commenting on his tenure as he plans to reveal all in a book.
The controversial Nigeria Air was launched in May 2023, shortly before the end of Buhari’s tenure, but the unveiling was widely criticised as fraudulent by industry stakeholders and members of the public.
Meanwhile, Sirika is facing trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged contract fraud. In May 2024, he was arraigned alongside his brother and associated firms on charges involving over N19 billion in aviation-related contracts.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) yesterday stated that arrangements are being finalised for the announcement of a new Force Public Relations Officer(FPRO).
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, said in a statement that he has approved the posting of the current FPRO, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, Delta State Command.
This deployment, he said, underscores the confidence of the Force leadership in Adejobi’s wealth of experience, professionalism, and capacity to further strengthen operational strategies within the Command.
He said: “I commend DCP Adejobi for his exceptional service as Force Public Relations Officer. His professionalism, commitment, and remar-kable contributions to enhancing the image and communication strategies of the Nigeria Police Force have been outstanding.”
Egbetokun expressed confidence that Adejobi will bring the same level of dedication and excellence to his new assignment in Delta State.
Earlier, the Force spokesperson performed his last official assignment as the image maker of the Force when he gave a briefing on the operational activities of the operatives of the Force across all formations for the month of August 2025.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has linked the economic and security challenges facing the nation to the embezzlement of public funds by dubious politicians.
Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukayode, who stated this on Wednesday at the annual conference of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria in Delta State, urged Nigerians to imbibe the culture of transparency and accountability.
The anti-graft chairman was represented at the event by Mr. Williams Oseghale, an Assistant Commander and Head of Public Affairs, Benin Zonal Directorate of the Commission.
In his keynote address, the EFCC boss said that good governance could be attained if Nigerians collectively play their roles as good citizens.
“Every challenge around Nigeria’s socio-economic development today can be traced to the consequences of corruption.
The rising problems of unemployment, insecurity, poverty, diseases, low life expectancy, hunger, kidnappings, and others are the results of mismanagement, misapplication, and embezzlement of our resources by those entrusted with them,” he said.
