Travellers’ killing: Plateau Govt pays Zazazu Emirate visit
A delegation of the Plateau Government has visited the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Ahmed Bamalli, over the killing of some travellers in the state.
The delegation was led by Alhaji Muhammadu Haruna, the Emir of Wase, Wase Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that on June 20, hoodlums attacked and killed some travellers at Mangun community of Mangu LGA of the state.
The victims were said to be travelling from Zaria, Kaduna State, to Qua’an Pan LGA in Plateau for a wedding ceremony but missed their way and got to Mangun.
Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, who condemned the incident, described it as an act of criminality.
The Police Command in the state said it had arrested 22 suspects in connection with the unfortunate incident.
The leader of the delegation, who spoke to NAN on Tuesday in Jos, said that the visit was to commiserate with the Emir of Zazzau and the families of the deceased.
Haruna appealed to the people of Zaria not to allow the incident to destroy the cordial relationship between Plateau and Kaduna State, and the Zazzau Emirate.
“Last Sunday, I led a delegation of top government functionaries from Plateau to commiserate with the emir and people of the Zazzau Emirate over the unfortunate incident that claimed some lives.
“Kaduna State and the Zazzau Emirate have enjoyed cordial relationship with Plateau; so we condemn the criminal act in totality because Plateau people are accommodating.
“As we speak, some arrests have been made, and this is an indication that the government of Plateau will not sweep this matter under the carpet.
“Anyone found guilty will face the full wrath of the law; we will ensure that justice is served,” he said.
The royal father thanked the Emir of Zazzau for the warm reception the delegation received, and for ensuring that the situation didn’t degenerate into reprisal in any part of his domain.
Haruna also assured members of the affected families of the government’s plans to support them in whatever way to cushion the hardship that may arise due to the demise of their loved ones.

2027: Delta Central APC Women Endorse Tinubu, Oborevwori
Women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as the sole candidates of the party for the 2027 general election.
The endorsement took place during a strategic APC women’s unity meeting held in Ughelli.
According to a statement, the motion for the endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori was moved by Mrs. Josephine Oduaran and seconded by Hon. Stella Okotete. It was unanimously adopted through a voice vote presided over by former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Evelyn Oboro.
Convener of the meeting and Executive Director, Business Development, NEXIM Bank, Hon. Stella Okotete, said the women of Delta Central have resolved to follow President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori without looking back.
She described the gathering as a significant step towards consolidating women’s participation in the APC and ensuring electoral victory in 2027.
Oketete said the party stands united under the leadership of Governor Oborevwori, and assured the people that more empowerment opportunities await women in the state.
She noted that the massive turnout of female political leaders from across the senatorial district is a clear indication of the growing strength of the APC.
Okotete, a former APC National Women Leader, urged the women to mobilise voters from house to house, unit to unit, ward to ward, and local government to local government to ensure landslide victories for President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, and all APC candidates.
She clarified that she has no intention of contesting any elective office in 2027, stating that her sole interest lies in delivering victory for the party’s candidates.
She also emphasised the importance of embracing the APC’s twinning system, where women can deputize for men and vice versa, to guarantee broader representation at all levels.
Okotete said: “Our goal is to ensure the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori so they can continue their good work beyond 2027. Delta State is now an APC state, and we are confident of victory. The President will get the highest number of votes from Delta State in 2027. There is no opposition here, and certainly no division within the APC. We are united”.
Speaking on behalf of the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency delegates, former House of Representatives member, Hon. Evelyn Oboro, applauded Governor Oborevwori for his outstanding achievements in just two years in office.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Delta State Civil Service Commission, Chief Roseline Amioku, urged women to register their children, particularly those of voting age to boost the senatorial district’s population. She noted that women constitute the majority of voters at polling units and called for unity to advance their collective political fortunes.
State Women Leader of the APC, Mrs. Tina Okwudili, expressed confidence in the strength of the party, citing the massive defection of former PDP members to the APC. She pledged continued hard work to ensure victory for all APC candidates in future elections.

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, have arrived in Madina, Saudi Arabia, ahead of the burial of elder statesman and business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy President of the Senate, Ismail Mudashir, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the statement, Barau and Ganduje departed Abuja on Monday evening and touched down at the Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport, Madina, at 5:15 a.m. Saudi Arabian time along with other dignitaries from Kano and across Nigeria.
Others on the trip include the Kano State APC Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, Senator Muntari Dandutse; Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Ali Madaki; and Hon. Sani Bala.
Also in the delegation are Ahmad Munzali Dantata, a son of the late elder statesman; Engr. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, a federal lawmaker representing Makoda/Dambatta; and Usman Yahaya Kansila, among others.
Recall that the late Dantata, a highly respected philanthropist and industrialist, passed away in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, over the weekend.
He will be laid to rest on Tuesday in Madina, close to his wife, Rabi’a, who died last year.

Bandits on Monday afternoon attacked Chediya community in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing several people, abducting many others, and burning houses.
During the attack, the assailants also looted homes, stole livestock, and set several houses on fire, leaving the community in fear and devastation.
Security analyst Bakatsine, who shared details of the incident in a post on X said the invasion occurred less than 24 hours after a similar attack in Kucheri community, also in Zamfara.
“This afternoon, bandits invaded Chediya community in Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State. They killed people, abducted many, looted houses, rustled livestock and set some houses ablaze during the in2vasion.
This is coming less than 24hrs after Kucheri attack,” Bakatsine wrote.
As of the time of this report, authorities are yet to release an official statement or confirm the number of casualties.

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will tomorrow, Wednesday, July 2, address a high-level United Nations(UN) Global Compact roundtable in Seville, Spain, where he will showcase the state’s innovative economic models.
The roundtable, organised by the UN Global Compact, is themed, “Driving Business Leadership in Sustainable Finance in Uncertain Times.” Global finance and development leaders at the event will address critical challenges and identify investment opportunities to bridge the financing gap for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
Governor Uzodimma was specifically invited to the event to share Imo State’s experience in creating innovative economic opportunities. The invitation letter noted, “Given Imo State’s commitment to sustainable development and your leadership in fostering economic development, your insights would be invaluable.”
Speaking on the upcoming event, Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba, described the invitation as “well deserved,” attributing it to the “giant strides” the governor has recorded in the state’s economic and infrastructural development.
He said the governor will share Imo State’s experience with its creative initiatives designed to stimulate the local economy, highlighting the Skill-Up Imo programme and the OKOBI business model.

DAILY POST gathered that the students embarked upon the protest as a result of the recent announcement made by Governor Seyi Makinde of the state to rename the institution.
Makinde has few days ago announced his plans to rename The Polytechnic Ibadan to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Olunloyo was the first Ibadan person to serve as the governor of old Oyo State.
He served between October and December 1983.
DAILY POST reports that students of the institution are currently protesting the renaming of the institution.
The students in the early hours of Tuesday blocked the entrance gates of the institution.
They also blocked the ever busy Sango -Eleyele Road.
This made many commuters, residents and travellers plying the road to be stranded.
