Governor Umar Namadi has approved the appointment of Muhammad Faiz as the pioneer Commander General of the Jigawa State Hisbah Board.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Ismaila Ibrahim Dutse, Public Relations Officer, Office of the Secretary to the Government, and issued to DAILY POST.
The statement said the development is part of the governor’s efforts to enhance the operations and effectiveness of the new Hisbah.
The Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim, confirmed the appointments, which include: Dr Husaini Yusuf Baban, Deputy Commander General; Lawan Danbala, Assistant Commander General, Headquarters; Yunusa Idris Barau, Assistant Commander General, Dutse Zone; Abdulkadir Zakar, Assistant Commander General, Hadejia Zone; Suraja Adamu, Assistant Commander General, Gumel Zone; Bello Musa Gada, Assistant Commander General, Kazaure Zone; and Barrister Mustapha Habu, Secretary/Legal Adviser.
Malam Bala Ibrahim emphasised that these appointments were made based on merit, competence and personal integrity, urging the appointees to meet the expectations placed upon them.
In his acceptance speech, the Director General of the Board, Muhammad Faiz, expressed gratitude to the governor and pledged to work diligently in his new role.

The Edo judiciary and legal practitioners have pledged their full support for Governor Monday Okpebholo’s ongoing efforts to combat cultism and kidnapping.
This unified stance was evident during a high-level meeting at the Government House in Benin on Tuesday.
Okpebholo, in his address at the meeting, stressed the importance of a collaborative approach between the executive and the judiciary, describing their relationship as “very cordial.”
He expressed appreciation for the judiciary’s responsiveness and swift legal advice, which has facilitated his administration’s efforts to tackle insecurity.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to fighting cultism and kidnapping, emphasising that these crimes pose a significant threat to the state’s economic development.
He called for continued cooperation from the judiciary in enforcing law and order, stating: “We must bring these crimes down to the barest minimum so we can feel safe again, our children can invest here, and their investments will be protected.”
This call to action follows recent legislative reforms, including the enactment of the Secret Cult and Similar Activities (Prohibition) Law 2025, and the Kidnapping Prohibition (Amendment) Law 2025.
These laws impose strict penalties for cult-related activities and kidnapping, including mandatory jail terms and, in severe cases, the death penalty.
To enhance the judiciary’s capacity to deliver justice effectively, Okpebholo pledged his administration’s support for addressing key institutional needs, such as recruiting additional judicial staff.
This commitment followed a briefing from the state Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Iyobosa Okungbowa, on the judiciary’s staffing challenges, which have been exacerbated by professionals seeking opportunities abroad.
Governor Okpebholo responded positively, acknowledging the urgent need to equip the judiciary with adequate human resources to ensure the effective prosecution of cases related to insecurity, NAN reports.

83-year-old Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara Announces Fourth Term Bid
Ivory Coast’s President Alassane Ouattara said Tuesday he will seek a fourth term leading the West African nation, which is due to hold elections in October.
His candidacy is contested after he changed the constitution to remove the presidential term limit.
The 83-year-old president declared his plan in a televised announcement. He won a third term in 2020 after he initially said he wasn’t going to run again. However, he changed his position following the death of his hand-picked successor, Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly.
“I am a candidate, because the constitution allows me to seek another term, and my health allows it,” Ouattara said.
His most prominent rival, Tidjane Thiam, has already been barred from running by a court on the grounds that he was still a French citizen at the time he declared his candidacy, even though he later renounced his French nationality. Ivorian law bans dual nationals from running for president.
Elections in Ivory Coast have usually been fraught with tension and violence. When Ouattara announced his third term bid, several people were killed in the ensuing violence. There have been protests against the court’s decision to bar Thiam from contesting the election.
Ouattara is the latest among a growing number of leaders in West Africa who remain in power by changing the constitutional term limit.
Coup leaders in the region have used alleged corruption within democratic governments and electoral changes as a pretext to seize power, leading to a split in the regional bloc, ECOWAS.
“For those critical of ECOWAS and civilian governments, Ouattara’s decision just reinforces the legitimacy crisis everyone in the region is facing. It makes people like Ouattara look like hypocrites,” Nat Powell, Africa analyst at Oxford Analytica, told The Associated Press.
Ouattara justified his decision to run by saying that the Ivory Coast is facing unprecedented security, economic, and monetary challenges that require experience to manage effectively.

DAILY POST reports that a viral video circulating on social media showed a group of Ghanaians protesting and demanding the deportation of Nigerians from the country.
The protesters alleged that some Nigerians were engaging in criminal activities, claiming their behaviour was incompatible with Ghanaian societal values.
Responding in a statement on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, condemned the generalisation of Nigerians as criminals, describing it as unfair and dangerous.
Dabiri-Erewa said that while a few individuals may be involved in wrongdoing, the majority of Nigerians living in Ghana are law-abiding and contribute positively to society.
“Nigerians are not criminals. They are good ambassadors wherever they find themselves while those bad ones should be fish out and face the necessary sanctions.
“Ghana and Nigeria are like siamese twins. They are brothers and in the spirit of ECOWAS and regional integration should continue to live in peace like brothers,” she said.
