The Russian Foreign Ministry said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi on Wednesday discussed ongoing negotiations regarding Tehran’s nuclear programme with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Ryabkov.

Both sides addressed joint steps to stabilise the situation and reduce the tensions that have been artificially and unreasonably inflamed by Western countries.

According to the ministry, the use of military force against Iran and threats to strike its nuclear infrastructure would be illegal and unacceptable, as they would cause large-scale and irreversible radiological and humanitarian consequences for the Middle East and the world.

It announced on Wednesday that Israel plans to seize large parts of Gaza as part of a major expansion of military operations in the enclave.

The Kremlin, earlier this year, offered to mediate between the United States and Iran, with which Moscow signed a strategic partnership treaty in January.

President Donald Trump of the United States, in his first remarks since Iran rejected direct negotiations with Washington, said over the weekend that Tehran could face bombing and secondary tariffs if it did not reach an agreement over its nuclear programme.

Billionaire Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, has announced the termination of a further 80 wasteful contracts worth $203.6 million.

DOGE disclosed this in a statement released on its X account on Wednesday.

According to DOGE, among the cancelled contracts is a $2.1 million State Department management consulting contract for senior advisers in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The US agency noted that the cancellations have resulted in savings of $139.1 million for the country.

“Agencies terminated 80 wasteful contracts today with a ceiling value of $203.6M and savings of $139.1M, including a $2.1M @StateDept management consulting contract for a ‘senior advisor in the Democratic Republic of Congo,’” DOGE stated on X.

In a more recent development, DOGE highlighted that the US Veterans Affairs Department’s $380,000 monthly payment for website modifications has now been handled internally by the department’s software engineer at no additional cost.

“VA was previously paying ~$380,000/month for minor website modifications. That contract has not been renewed, and the same work is now being executed by one internal VA software engineer, spending ~10 hours/week,” DOGE stated.

DAILY POST reports that DOGE, established primarily to reduce the cost of governance in the US, has saved American taxpayers $130 billion—equating to $807.45 per taxpayer.

This development follows DOGE’s termination last month of 113 contracts valued at $4.7 billion.

Denmark’s Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, has pledged to support Greenland in the face of US President Donald Trump’s expressions of interest in acquiring the Danish semi-autonomous territory, as she arrived in Nuuk for talks with its incoming government.

Frederiksen made this statement on Wednesday at the start of her three-day visit to the vast Arctic island, less than a week after US Vice President JD Vance’s visit to the territory received a frosty reception from authorities in Denmark and Greenland.

“The US shall not take over Greenland. Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders,” Frederiksen declared.

The Danish leader emphasised her commitment to supporting Greenland in what she described as a very difficult situation.

Before her visit, Frederiksen had expressed her intention to strengthen Copenhagen’s ties with the island, highlighting the importance of respectful cooperation at a time of significant pressure on Greenland.

Greenland’s incoming Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen—who won last month’s parliamentary election and is set to form a coalition government—welcomed Frederiksen’s visit, affirming that Denmark remains Greenland’s closest partner.

Frederiksen also vowed to do what she could to ensure equal rights for Greenlanders and Danes within the Danish realm.

“Above all, we need to discuss the foreign and security policy situation, geopolitics, and how we tackle this very difficult challenge together—because that is what matters now,” she said.
