Britain’s Charity Commission has launched an investigation into Sentebale, the charity Prince Harry set up in memory of his mother, Princess Diana.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Commission noted that it would probe whether Sentebale’s “current and former trustees, including its chair, have fulfilled their duties and responsibilities”.
Reacting to the development, Harry released a statement, saying he was satisfied “that the Charity Commission confirmed they will be conducting a robust inquiry”.
“We fully expect it will unveil the truth that collectively forced us to resign.”
The Duke of Sussex co-founded the charity in 2006 with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in honour of their mothers, Diana and Lesotho’s Queen Mamohato.
Sentebale was established to tackle health issues such as HIV and AIDS, as well as wealth inequity and climate resilience among young people in the southern African nations of Lesotho and Botswana.

Justice E.O. Ashade of the High Court of Lagos State, sitting in the Yaba Judicial Division, has issued an interim order restraining Oretol Nigeria Limited and Mr. Adewale Oladapo from trespassing, selling, or dealing with a disputed four-hectare parcel of land at Hampton Estate (also known as Eletu Odibo Island) in Osapa, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
The ruling, in favour of the claimant, Capital Gardens Limited, followed a motion ex-parte filed on March 13, 2025.
The court’s order prohibits the defendants and their representatives from entering, marketing, selling, transferring or interfering with the land in any way that affects the claimant’s interests.
The land in dispute is delineated in Survey Plan No: FAI/3454/A01/2024/LA, prepared by Registered Surveyor A.I. Fashina on February 8, 2024.
Justice Ashade also directed the claimant to publish notices in the media to inform the public of the restraining order and warn potential buyers against engaging with the defendants regarding the property.
Additionally, Capital Gardens Limited must file an undertaking to comply with the Lagos State High Court’s Pre-Action Protocol before further proceedings.
The case has been adjourned to June 2, 2025, for a report on compliance.
The counsel for the claimant, Abraham Oladipupo, represented the applicant in court. The defendants were absent and had no legal representation.
This ruling highlights the persistent legal disputes over land ownership in Lagos and serves as a cautionary reminder for property investors to verify land titles before engaging in transactions.

A rights group, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) has called on the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to release about 40 native doctors being detained in the state.
The native doctors were arrested after the signing of the Anambra State Homeland Security Law about two months ago on allegations of preparing protective charms for criminals and engaging in money rituals, which has aided insecurity in the state.
But Intersociety in a press statement signed by the chairman board of trustees of the group, Mr Emeka Umeagbalasi and other members said those being held were merely traditional worshipers, and that their continued detention amounted to intolerance for other religions.
The group said, “The traditional worshippers being held in Anambra have no case to answer in law. Governor Charles Soludo and his government, having failed a litmus test of being responsible, human rights and freedom of religion have lost legal and moral grounds to continue to detain without investigation.
“The over 40 detained traditional worshippers held illegally in an illegal detention facility (state militias’ Lion House at Awka) for more than 60 days should be released.
“The above clearly exceeded the constitutionally prescribed 24-48hrs or maximum of 60 days if arrested by police or secret service and detained in any of their customers for offences bordering on capital punishments especially when such detention is for purpose of continuation and conclusion of criminal investigations.
“Governors in Nigeria including Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State are constitutionally and statutorily barred from detaining citizens in their militias’ custodies through Remand Orders or Holden Charge.
“Following the failure of the Soludo-led government to ensure due process and rule of law in the instant case; and having controversially labelled, lampooned, ridiculed, humiliated and degraded them by publicly portraying them as those involved in fetish and demonic religious practices and violent crimes, the over 40 native doctors have no case to answer.”
The group named some of the native doctors in detention including; Chigozie Nwangwu, popularly known as akwa okuko tiwara aki, Abuchi Ikechukwu Okafor, Chijindu Nwaeze, Onyeka Onyeji (Vice President of the Umuoji Improvement Union), Onyeze Jesus, Ekene Igboekweze, popularly known as Eke-Hit, among others.
The group further raised the alarm on the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the South East, calling on the Governors of Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra and Imo States to sit up.
The Intersociety threatened to mount advocacy through their international counterparts for visa bans and international isolation against the governors and their families.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has apologised to Lagosians over the excruciating traffic witnessed in parts of Victoria Island, Lekki and Ikoyi Wednesday due to the on-going repairs on Independence Bridge, Bonny Camp being carried out by the Federal Ministry of Works.
In a press statement by the governor Thursday, he expressed his heartfelt emotions over the frustration of many who were caught in the monster traffic situation.
“I sincerely apologise to all Lagosians for the severe traffic congestion experienced yesterday. I understand the frustration, delays and disruption this has caused in your daily lives. As someone who also moves through this city, I feel your pain, and we do not take your patience and resilience for granted.
“The decision to fix the Independence Bridge was not made overnight. This repair has been in the works for over three years, carefully planned to avert a potential disaster. The structural integrity of the bridge had deteriorated, and delaying this intervention any further would have put lives at risk.
“While this repair is necessary for the safety of all, I acknowledge the burden it has placed on commuters. We are working closely with all relevant agencies to improve traffic management, and find immediate solutions to ease the congestion,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The governor promised that additional traffic monitoring officials and security personnel had been deployed to ensure traffic flows freely.
“I also want to urge businesses and organisations across Lagos to explore flexible work arrangements, including remote work and hybrid models. A temporary shift in work culture can go a long way in reducing traffic pressure and supporting our collective wellbeing.
“Let us embrace innovative solutions that keep our city moving while we carry out critical infrastructure repairs. Together, we can build a more resilient, responsive and liveable Lagos.
“Lagosians, I ask for your continued patience and cooperation. Your safety remains our priority, and we are committed to ensuring that our city remains not only a hub of progress but also a place where infrastructure serves the people effectively,” he said.

The statement released by the Ministry’s Information and Public Relations Officer, Jalaludeen Usman, reminded parents to release their children enrolled in boarding and day schools with effect from Sunday 6th April 2025 to continue their second term.
The statement said education remains a priority in the state and that the State Governor, Senator Abdulkadir Bala Mohammed has directed that children should be mobilized back to schools immediately.
“The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr Lawal Mohammed Rimin Zayam, wishes to remind parents and guardians that the resumption date for the continuation of the second term is Sunday, 6th April, for both day and boarding schools in Bauchi State.
“To this end, the ministry will soon commence JAMB CBT training for all sponsored JAMB students, empowering them to excel in all examinations sponsored by the Bauchi State Government.”
It urged parents and guardians to release their children even as late resumption would not be tolerated as academic work is set to commence immediately.
“Parents and guardians are advised to ensure their wards resume on the stipulated date to avoid any disruptions to their academic progress.”
It is recalled that schools were closed on March 1, 2025, for the Ramadan break amid a spark of criticisms from various quarters, particularly the civil society and religious groups.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Thursday departed the nation’s capital, Abuja for Dakar, Senegal, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the country’s 65th Independence Day Anniversary celebrations.
Senegal celebrates its Independence Day on April 4 each year, commemorating its freedom from French colonial rule in 1960.
The day is marked by national pride, with ceremonies, parades and cultural events.
The vice-president’s attendance at the annual event, according to a statement issued by his Media Assistant, Stanley Nkwocha, is in honour of an invitation extended to President Tinubu by his Senegalese counterpart, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, following the strong mutual relationship between Nigeria and Senegal.
The Independence Day celebrations will be held at the Place de la Nation in Dakar, with President Faye playing host to Vice-President Shettima and other distinguished guests from across Africa and beyond.
The vice-president is expected back in the country on Friday after the one-day event.
