The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, on Sunday warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently find ways to unite Nigeria across tribal lines to avoid a revolution in the country.

Primate Ayodele lamented that disunity has deeply affected the country, with almost every sector lacking unity.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Oluwatosin Osho, Primate Ayodele said the government has a responsibility to ensure the country stays together by addressing the causes of disunity politically, religiously, and tribally, as Nigeria’s peace is threatened by widespread division in every sector.

He explained that the only thing bringing Nigerians together is football, but the Super Eagles have not been performing excellently, further contributing to disunity across the country.

According to Ayodele: “Something needs to be done about Nigeria. Many may not tell the president this, but Nigeria isn’t united in terms of geopolitical zones, religion, tribalism, and politics. We are very disturbed in this country. Tribes dislike one another, and this threatens the unity of the nation.

“Nigeria needs to be very prayerful. The government needs to pay attention to the causes of these issues. An ethnic crisis is imminent if the government doesn’t take it seriously.

“Religion cannot even bring us together because issues still arise from there. I think the only thing that unites us is football, but even our Super Eagles are not doing well.”

The prophet stated that the government must restructure the system and conduct a form of referendum to reset the country.

He added that even if the Igbos attain power, there will still be disunity if the fundamental issues are not addressed.

“The government will need to restructure the system. They will need to conduct a form of referendum to reset everything. Even if the Igbos get to power tomorrow, there will still be issues. Our unity is seriously threatened.

“We need to truly unite, and this issue is present everywhere—even among those working for the president, in the civil service, just everywhere,” he said.

He blamed disunity for the numerous deaths recorded in the country, stating that it is a disease that seems incurable.

He urged the government to address the issue spiritually to avoid a revolution.

“This is why people are being killed daily, why votes will always be one-sided, why some people who rise to a certain level in life find it difficult to agree on one thing—it’s a disease that seems incurable.

“We need to address this spiritually because it could lead to a revolution. It’s affecting our economy, the country spiritually, and morally. There is no love in this country; even those working with Tinubu don’t love him,” he added.

A former Minister of State for Health, Prof Iyorwuese Hagher, has urged federal, state, and local governments, as well as tertiary institutions across the country, to invest in moringa farming for its significant revenue generation, employment creation, and health benefits for the citizenry.

Speaking shortly after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among the Moringa Productions, Marketers and Farmers Welfare and Empowerment Association of Nigeria, Eden Moringa Productions and Marketers Limited, the Middle Belt Youth Development Organisation, and Agreco Shift Limited at the weekend in Abuja, he advised universities and polytechnics to establish moringa farms to boost their revenue base and create wealth within the citadels of learning.

“Moringa is a miracle plant. Moringa cures so many diseases. It has been scientifically proven that moringa cures numerous ailments.

“Nigeria is facing challenges in health policy. As a former Minister of Health, I realize that we can no longer depend solely on chemical medicines.

“We need to go natural. If we plant moringa and make it available to the citizenry, we will have a healthier population.

“Planting moringa is the cheapest way for people to attain premium health,” he explained.

Iyorwuese, who is also a former Minister of Power and Steel, further decried the negative effects of chemical fertilizers on the soil, urging Nigerians to embrace organic moringa fertilizer for optimal productivity.

He said: “We can no longer endure the damage to our soil caused by chemical fertilizers imported into the country.

“Chemical fertilizers destroy the soil, and producers of these chemical fertilizers make Nigerians dependent on them.”

Iyorwuese, a Grand Patron of the Middle Belt Youth Development Organisation, further advised the federal government to begin the production of moringa fertilizer to achieve food security, adding that “It is in agriculture that the security of this country is guaranteed.”

According to him, “One seed of moringa is more powerful than an AK-47 gun.”

In his remarks, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Moringa Productions, Marketers and Farmers Welfare and Empowerment Association of Nigeria, Dr. Ashimashiga Akoloaga, explained that the signing of the MoU with the Middle Belt Youth Development Organisation was intended to encourage youth engagement in moringa farming.

Akoloaga pointed out that the synergy was also designed to educate farmers on how to cultivate and produce moringa products that meet international standards.

He acknowledged that Nigeria had experienced rejections of its agricultural produce in the international market due to high levels of chemical substances in these products.

He, therefore, advised Nigerians to embrace organic fertilizers produced from moringa to ensure a bumper harvest and good nourishment of the soil.

Akoloaga called on farmer cooperatives and farmer groups to partner with the association in the distribution of e-moringa fertilizer and other related products in Nigeria and beyond its shores.

Also speaking, the President of the Middle Belt Youth Development Organisation, Chris Aba, enumerated the numerous benefits of moringa products while calling on well-meaning Nigerians and investors to invest in moringa farming for the socio-economic development of the country.

This action completes the establishment of five new Regional Development Commissions (RDCs), fulfilling a legislative priority championed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Abass and the National Assembly.

The new commissions; the South-West Development Commission (SWDC), the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), the North-West Development Commission (NWDC), the South-East Development Commission (SEDC) and the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC), are under the oversight of the Ministry of Regional Development, created in October 2024.

The ministry is responsible for coordinating the activities of the commissions, ensuring they adhere to their mandates, and facilitating inter-regional collaboration. The established regional commissions are tasked with enhancing infrastructure, economic growth, and social welfare within their regions.

In September 2024, the Senate passed the SWDC Bill with majority backing, then sent it to the House of Representatives for approval. Senator Gbenga Daniel from Ogun East sponsored the bill. Similarly, the SSDC Bill was passed in October 2024 and forwarded to the House of Representatives.

The South-South Development Commission Bill, a legislative priority under Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s leadership, aims to address ecological degradation and economic disparities in Nigeria’s oil-producing region. The South-West Commission will focus on infrastructure development and industrialisation, leveraging the region’s economic potential.

The swift passage of the bills for RDCs, including funding mechanisms, by the National Assembly, underscores the strong bipartisan support for regional development. Senate President Akpabio’s leadership in advancing these bills and ensuring their signage into law reflects his commitment to legislative reforms that promote equitable development across all regions of Nigeria.

President Tinubu’s assent to the SWDC and SSDC bills marks a milestone in Nigeria’s push for regional equity. With Senate President Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abass’s legislative stewardship and the National Assembly’s bipartisan support, the RDC framework positions Nigeria to tackle zone-specific challenges through targeted interventions. With the president’s assent, stakeholders can expect the commissions to be fully operational in the coming months, with measurable outcomes to validate this ambitious regional development strategy.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has felicitated with Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

CAN noted that the spiritual activities were significant and rewarding to every faithful, especially those who embrace the teachings as instructed in the Holy Books.

In a statement issued on Sunday by Rev. John joseph Hayab and Bishop Mohammed Naga, the Chairman and the Secretary respectively of Northern CAN, they also expressed grief and sorrow as Nigerians mourn the killing of 16 travelers in Uromi, Edo State.

According to the statement, “The pain and anguish their families and loved ones must endure are unbearable, and we can only imagine the depth of their suffering. May God grant them comfort, strength, and solace during this darkest of times.

“This heinous act of violence is a stain on our collective humanity, and CAN condemns it in the strongest terms. The brutal taking of innocent lives is a tragedy that should unite us all in our outrage and our determination to ensure that justice is served.

“As Christians, we stand in solidarity with their families, recognizing that this act of violence is not only an attack on any region but on our shared humanity.”

CAN prayed for peace and calm to be restored and for an end to violence and bloodshed in the nation.

“We weep with you, we mourn with you, and we pray with you for an end to this senseless violence,” the statement added.

CAN said, “To the immediate families and relatives of the victims, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences.

“We can only imagine the depth of your pain and grief, and we pray that God grants you the strength and courage to bear this unbearable loss. May the memories of your loved ones be a blessing to you, and may their sacrifice not be in vain.”

CAN appealed to those who were calling for counter-reaction to reconsider their actions, saying that revenge was not a solution but a recipe for further chaos and destruction.

The statement condemned the what it called “stereotypes and generalizations” that seek to demonize Nigerians based on the actions of a few, stressing that Nigerians must rise in unison to reject such stereotypes and generalizations, whether based on religious, ethnic, or regional grounds.

The statement observed, “Such divisive rhetoric only serves to fuel further violence and mistrust.

“Instead, we must work towards a future where every Nigerian can live without fear of violence or persecution, regardless of their location within the federation.”

CAN tasks the security agencies, the government of Edo State, and the Federal Government to ensure diligence in investigating this heinous crime and prosecuting those involved, stressing that it is crucial that they take immediate and transparent action to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Emir of Kano and Khalifah of Tijaniyya, His Highness, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has reacted to the recent ban imposed on Sallah Durbar, noting that the action became pertinent for enduring peace and development of the state.

Besides, Emir Sanusi declared that the annual traditional heritage that is usually celebrated at the end of Ramadan is not a matter of life or death but a cultural symbol dated back to the 15th century.

Sanusi, former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was speaking while hosting eminent Islamic scholars and prominent personalities to Iftar dinner at the palace on Saturday.

The first class emir of Kano, who described peace as the only backbone of progress and development of any society, accepted to withdraw all planned activities of the emirate intended for the colorful Durbar.

Recall that the Commissioner of Police in Kano, CP Adamu Bakori under a joint security apparatus, announced the ban on the proposed Sallah Durbar, citing impending security threat revealed by relevant notice.

The Emir, however, said that he does not see the Eid El Fitr Durbar as “a matter of life and death”, adding that the lives and safety of Kano citizens were more paramount to him.

He appealed to residents and the general public to remain peaceful and law abiding while cooperating with the security agencies to ensure law and order during and after the Sallah festival.

On his part, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Faruq applauded the emir for his spirit of love and kindness.

He stated that he experienced the Emir’s kindheartedness when was a lecturer at ABU in the early 1980s where he guided and supported them as his students.

The SSG expressed gratitude to the Emir for showing concern for the lives of Kano citizens, by his willingness to cancel the Eid El Fitr Durbar celebration.

Similarly, the Murshid (Chief Imam) of the National Mosque, Professor Shehu Galadanci expressed deep appreciation to Emir Sanusi for exhibiting profound wisdom and knowledge as the leader of the Emirate.
