President Donald Trump of the United States on Thursday unveiled a task force to eradicate anti-Christian bias in government, intensifying a right-wing crackdown since returning to power.
The President said he was putting new Attorney General Pam Bondi at the head of the force to end persecution of the majority religion of the United States.
According to him, the mission of the task force would be to immediately halt all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination in the Department of Justice, the Internal Revenue Service, the FBI and other government agencies.
Trump also said the task force would prosecute anti-Christian violence and vandalism.
“We will protect Christians in our schools, in our military and our government, in our workplaces, hospitals and in our public squares,” Trump said.
He also announced the creation of a ‘White House faith office’ led by his spiritual advisor, the televangelist Paula White.
The announcements followed a wider purge of the federal government at the start of Trump’s second term.
DAILY POST reports that Trump has unveiled a slew of orders backing a conservative agenda, including several targeting diversity programs and transgender people.
Despite a criminal conviction for hush money payments in a porn star scandal and sexual assault allegations, Trump has long made himself a champion of right-wing Christians.
His cabinet contains several members with links to Christian nationalists, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

India on Thursday vowed migrant crackdown a day after a US military airplane flew back 104 migrants as part of President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement.
DAILY POST reports that scores of unregistered migrants have been arrested across the United States since Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
Trump’s executive actions aimed at overhauling immigration to the United States is estimated to impact 11 million undocumented migrants.
“It is the obligation of all countries to take back their nationals if they are found to be living illegally abroad,” India Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said.
According to the Chief of the US Border Patrol, Michael W. Banks, the return of illegal aliens to India marked the farthest deportation flight yet using military transport.
Banks included in social media post on Wednesday a video showing a shuffling line of shackled migrants boarding military aircraft.
Jaishankar said that New Delhi was engaging the US government to ensure that the returning deportees are not mistreated in any manner during the flight.
He, however, noted the process of deportation is not a new one, and that the United States had expelled more than 15,000 Indians since 2009, almost half of them between 2019-2024.
“Our focus should be on crackdown — strong crackdown — on the illegal migration industry, while taking steps to ease visas for the legitimate traveller,” Jaishankar said.

“We are committed to uncovering the root causes of this tragedy and ensuring preventive measures are put in place to avert future occurrences. We will also provide all necessary support and assistance to those affected,” Governor Lawal assured.
He noted that the state government will take immediate action to enhance safety standards in schools and prevent such tragic incidents in the future.

The Senate on Thursday ordered an urgent probe into the cause of a recent fire outbreak and oil spill from Manifold Well 8/ Bug 008 in OML 18, in the Buguma area of Rivers State.
This resolution followed a motion raised by Senator Harry Banigo representing Rivers West at the read chamber of the National Assembly.
In a resolution passed during plenary, the Senate instructed swift action to address the environmental and humanitarian impacts on affected communities.
The red chamber mandated the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, NOSDRA, to conduct an immediate investigation and submit a report within four weeks.
It also ordered the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, to send emergency response teams to assess the situation, carry out remediation measures, and fulfill its corporate social responsibility obligations.
The committees on Environment and Petroleum Resources (Upstream) were also tasked with evaluating oil operators’ compliance with environmental regulations, including the Environmental Impact Assessment, EIA, Act.
The committee will recommend necessary actions such as shutting down the affected well, initiating cleanup efforts, and ensuring full environmental restoration.
