Like Macron, Starmer corrects Trump on Europe’s aid to Ukraine
Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday corrected President Donald Trump’s comment on Europe’s aid to Ukraine, three days after President Emmanuel Macron did the same. The United States and other countries under the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO, have provided billions of dollars in military equipment to support Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in February 2022.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday corrected President Donald Trump’s comment on Europe’s aid to Ukraine, three days after President Emmanuel Macron did the same.
The United States and other countries under the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO, have provided billions of dollars in military equipment to support Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in February 2022.
President Donald Trump insists the U.S. has provided a chunk of the funds, which he puts at $350 billion; Europe has contributed $100 billion, he says.
Speaking at the White House while taking questions alongside Starmer, Trump repeated his remark that European allies will get their money back from Ukraine.
But the British leader interjected, clarifying that part of their financial support was donated as a “gift”.
“They get their money back, we don’t get the money back,” Trump stated. “Biden made the deal, he put in $350billion and I thought that was a very unfair situation.
“We’re not getting all of ours, quite a bit of ours was gifted…it was gifted actually,” Starmer interrupted as Trump simply nodded.
DAILY POST observed the same scenario played out at the White House on Monday during the visit of President Macron, the first European leader to meet Trump in his second term.
“Europe is loaning the money to Ukraine, they get their money back,” Trump said. But the French leader cut in: “No, in fact to be frank, we paid. We paid 60 percent of the total defaults.”
